Post Putin wants another 12 years
Ok maybe you did hear it in the news:
-Medwed announced that he wants to change the constitution so a term for a president will be in the future 6 years.
-Some say that Medwed will step down in 2010 to make room again for Putin
-That means that Putin can get another 2x6 years. So totaly 12.

What a dictator.

He is well liked in Russia though, why does he have such a bad reputation here?

Also, Russian people cried at Stalin's funeral. What's your point again?

He deserves his bad reputation: in 8 years he has done nothing. Sadly not many russians understand that. And war with Georgia was the last blow to russian democracy: now it is acceptable to make public statements like "all liberals should be executed" and "everyone who opposes putin's regime are traitors".
