 Lindsay Lohan is getting political
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080902/ap_ ... dsay_lohanQuote: The 22-year-old actress took to her MySpace blog Tuesday to post her thoughts on Republican John McCain's running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, and the revelation that Palin's unmarried 17-year-old daughter is pregnant.
"I've been watching the news all morning, like everyone else  and (I) keep hearing about the issues related to `teen pregnancy.' ... Well, I think the real problem comes from the fact that we are taking the focus off of getting to know Sarah Palin and her political views, and what she can do to make our country a less destructive place," Lohan wrote.
Lohan suggested Palin "focus on delivering some words and policy with stronger impact like Joe Biden," Democrat Barack Obama's running mate.
The actress, who will guest star on ABC's "Ugly Betty" this season, then put out a plea to parents.
"I think that parents need to recognize how important it is to talk to their children about the things that can result from being sexually active if they aren't protecting themselves (birth control, condoms, etc.)," she wrote.
Lohan's blog has become a sounding board for her this summer. She lashed out at her father Michael on her blog last Thursday, calling him a "public embarrassment" after he said in an interview with E! that Lohan gal pal Samantha Ronson was "using" his daughter.
She's also used her blog to recommend music (Annie Lennox's "Walking on Broken Glass," was a pick) and search for a particular ice cream.
Lohan's publicist, Leslie Sloane-Zelnik, earlier confirmed Lohan had written the post about her father, but did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the latest entry.

I agree with her on the first part of the quote you bolded.
I'm not voting McCain/Palin, but everyone going on and on about her daughter being pregnant is a little annoying and doesn't seem like an issue at all. I'd group it in with Obama not wearing an American Flag pin every other day, McCain forgetting how many homes he has, Cheney having a gay daughter, or anything that doesn't have anything to do with the lives of everyday Americans (especially the more personal topics). I understand the point in bring such topics up to make that person or people around them perhaps look bad to score a few extra points when running for office, but that doesn't mean you have to. I thought that US Weekly (I think US Weekly, that Archie posted) was stupid and unneeded. Just something else that isn't needed to distract people from the issues.
I don't agree with Palin on many, many issues, but she seems likable, and one of the very few who doesn't seem interested in pushing her views on others. An example being she is against same-sex marriage, but she vetoed a bill preventing couples from receiving health benefits. I don't think the DEMS are any better than the REPS trying to use her pregnant daughter (a non-issue that doesn't effect us) or who knows what else will be brought up as a reason why she isn't qualified to run the country.

Unfortunately, Palin is quite determined and vindictive. The benefit of the doubt I extended her didn't survive the first day.
Let's start with forcing the censorship of books -- when the village librarian refused to cooperate, she tried to get her fired. I can't list all of her questionable actions without appearing batshit crazy. This devious person is so pushy on the issues, McCain looks docile by comparison (which he is, really - he doesn't talk issues forcefully).
The pregnancy fuss is not about the fact that Bristol is pregnant; it's about McCain's utter incompetence in performing due diligence on his VP candidate. Those that directly slander Bristol are tasteless.

Who said that it was not part of the plan? I doubt the McCain Campaign did not do a background check on Palin's and Co. before the nomination. That Palin's teenage daughter is pregnant would be and should be made known publicly. This is what the GOP candidate needed (and he found it): talking points. The emerging media "fact" that Palin is even more personable than Obama will help stir up the race.
