Post subject:  Moving avatars and horizontal scroll bars

When I scroll down the posts, my computer freezes a little bit each time I pass moving avatars and some moving signatures. (BttF's avatar, the Batman running with the bomb, seems to cause the msot delay.) I think the avatrs messes with my firewall, or just takes a lot of memory. I'm okay with it, but I'm curious if anyone else gets the same thing.

More annoying is that it seems a lot of threads now have horizontal scroll bars, and I have to scroll back and forth every line, which tires me out. This also happens for threads that don't have big pics in them. Why is this? I use Internet Explorer..is it something with my browser?

No avatar problems for me. At most, the page loads slower first but after loading is fine.

horizontal scrol bars. You have one for every post of the entire window?

IE or Mozilla?

I'm on IE, and yes, the horizontal scroll bar is there for all the posts on the page.

I think it might be torrino's wide signature. Only pages with his sig are giving me probs. Other pages are okay...

yea but i still dont get it for the individual posts ever. I really don't know but you might wanna check out some configuration. I'll take a look into it.

is it only happening on this board?

is your setting extreme morpheus blue thingy?

It's Torrino's for your consideration that causes the horizontal bars. I've noticed them in every post he makes.

People, please try to keep pictures out of signatures! They are pointless and in my opinion, all they're saying is "Ooh I have a big picture in my post so look at me!".

I like Firefox, this way I block all the pictures I don't like ;)

I bet that function was popular when I had my Hasselhoff avatar...

Yup that's the point. \:D/

You know, I do have trouble choosing just the right signature. I'll take it down!

What the... why does mine cause scrollbars at the bottom? It's barely even half the page.

Mine did, actually. I am on 800x600 (my dad's fault, he can't handle anything smaller), and it did. Anyway, I took it out and substituted a smaller picture.

Trust me, I know. I used to change it for myself, then whenever my dad used the computer, I would change it back, but then I got lazy.

I think I'm using the extreme morphus blue (white with blue trim) board setting. I wouldn't mind so much if only an individual post is stretched, but a long signature or a big picture appears to be stretching all the posts on the page. The only other massage boards I visit don't allow wide signatures, so I don't know the answers to your other question.

It might be not just torrino, btw. I was checking on Friday and there were a couple threads where torrino hadn't posted, but were still scrollbarred. It might also be Mav's Clint Eastwood sig as well. I guess even a medium-wide sig is enough to scroll the page over? :-k

Yeah.

I removed it. Eagle, you're incompetent. You didn't talk to me about it AT ALL!

Anyways, my resolution is like 1400 by 1050, so, it seemed kind of small to me. In fact, it'd align with the "Memberlist" or "Usergroups" labels on the bar.

I really think there needs to be a signature character change. I mean, I can't even add in ten films because of "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind". 300 might be more reasonable...

...Not really. Mine was colorful and all. Just listing text isn't flashy enough. In fact, with text, people often skip over it.

It has nothing to do with the "I have a big picture. Look at me" thing. It makes as much sense as an avatar.

That's what I mean. The avatar space is the place for a picture. A signature is text. Nobody writes a signature with a picture, unless they're illiterate. I don't want to make anyone mad, it's just kinda annying when there's huge pictures that relates in no way to the topic in the middle of posts.

And, where's Million Dollar Baby?

Oh. That's right. It says "Favorite" not "Best". ;)

Thank you, guys. It's much better now. There's still a little scrolling here and there, but it's fine. :D
