Eagle, I have to agree with your assessment. As far as private forums, I had no idea this was considered a clique, but I think it would be a shame if such a benefit was removed because a few members got upset that they were not invited. Sorry, but in this case, I didn't ask Mav. or others to be judges for particular reasons. Shocking, I know. I selected the jury and I stand by my decision.

As for the other issues, I'll state one more time, I have no issues with Goldie. I'm giving him another chance right now.

I've read every single post in this thread this morning.

The argument seems to be that if you're not friends with the jocks, is it okay to burn down the football stadium?

Great now we are finding out about more secert private places - where is this football stadium - is this another secert private KJ hang out spot.

And where are these jocks - are they in the sports forum - I haven't gone in there alot lately.

**************************************

Also about the cliques - I don't have a problem with this - everyone has friends and types of what they like talking / answering - for instance, I don't go into the pub or even spend much time in BO plus lots of other sections or threads - ( because for example I would rather talk about the movie than the BO ) but to each their own - my only problem always has been that the LINE was never well-defined or enforced.

But Eagle seemed to straighten this out by saying that there will be more enforcement of the rules when ANYONE CROSSES these lines.

Goldie it was a joke.

There is no "stadium" and the "jocks" was an American high school reference.

Then a thread title change is perhaps due, something more immediate and frightening.

Like ISSUES AT LARGE!!!!

Ok, Thanks, I am glad that was a joke.

Cause I once heard a rumor that Eagle is really a eccentric billionaire who owns a football team and he is just doing this for fun.

Basically slumming and hanging on the other side of the tracks to get away from his other billionaire friends.

I find the title fun in the face of unpleasant events. RC I am pretty sure goldie knew it was a joke, and was joking himself.

Let me say this in my defense, and to be honest with all of you, if you accept it, great, if not, then that is fine as well.

As a mod, my job is to report back to Arsi and Eagle. It is also my job to try and keep the peace, settle disputes, and issue warnings and my advice to the admins about bannins and such. I enjoy being a mod but it is not my life. I don't get paid do anything on this site and I come here, contribute to the site, post as often as I can and hang out with my internet friends because I like this site, and I like it a lot. But don't confuse my title as being a restriction on who I am. I have never come out and done anything to anyone that wouldn't do if I was not a mod, so why should my title of mod put any kind of leash on me? I refuse to be silenced because of a title and if the powers that be have a problem with that, they are more than welcome to revoke my mod title. I would tak no offense to it as this is eagle's site and if that is what he sees best, then that is a decision that I would live with. But I will not tone down my comments towards those that I think are a detriment to the site and I will certainly not bite my tongue around those who are in their mid 30's and act like they are 9 years old and someone on the playground just did something that they are going run to their teacher and tattle on them. Yes I am referring to Mav who acts like a child more than anyone here and this is coming froma guy who used to be very very good friends with him but who also recognizes what a massive ego he has. Now by me saying any of this, is it conduct unbecoming of a mod? I hope notg because it's who I am and it's who I always will be.

Since I became mod I think I have issued three official warnings. THREE in what two months? Yep, that makes me a real hard guy to get along with. So if you have a problem with that as well, then go complain. I don't even think Goldie deserves to get banned, I just find him annoying, childish, over dramatic and very sacntimonious....kind of like Mav, but not characteristics that are worthy of a banning. I've never recommneded that we ban anyone. To ban someone takes a lot. But Goldie and Mav are just thorns in your side. They eventually come out.

As for the private forums and the elitist attitudes that some think we have, I just don't get it. This is a website guys and ladies. No one is excluded here and honestly, if you have a problem with things here, then don't come. But I think this is the best site on the net and I have felt that way before Arsi and Eagle asked me to mod. It is lenient, you are allowed to be expressive and if these issues are tough for some people then perhaps it's not the site for you to be at.

I think there is much to do about nothing with all of this bitching and moaning. Get over yourselves.

Now like I said, if you guys don't like that I can tell someone that they are a punk or a cry baby and the reason that you feel that way is because I am a mod, then so be it. But until Eagle tells me that my servicecs here as a mod are no longer required, then that is how it is going to be. I like just about everone here....even Mav and Goldie. Hell me and Mav go way back and invented loonie bashing. But his personal crusade of his to let everyone know that he is a man to treat with respect is enough to drive a man crazy at times. But deep down you are a decent humanbeing Mav, you just have a side that needs to be worshipped and when it doesn't happen you write everyone and tell them that you feel wronged.....and fuck it, enough of this. I guess I've said all that needs to be said.

You know Baumer I have to agree with you here. First off, I do find you a bit abrasive sometimes but that can almost be a good thing. You aren't afraid to say what needs to be said sometimes. I don't know, I think some of your comments could be considered "baiting" but its not my place to say.

And Mav, seriously. Relax.

And I have no problem with that Rogue. But I would be this way whether I was a mod or not. Why should I have to hold back my comments when some of the members here are deserving of a sharp tongue.

And let Mav go, he just has to come up with some clever filth and intelligent comebacks like fuck off when he has nothing better to sat. It's in his nature.

While you're doing that, perhaps you can concentrate on trying to solve problems instead of purposely creating more. I think you need familiarized with one of the rules that you are supposed to know.

8. Posting style and behavior: We do not dictate how a person should and should not post a message or where they should post a message. But sometimes, a member?s actions pose a threat to the health of the forums. A word of advice is to be tactful and respectful about how you post. We are all from different places here and have a different way of conversing. We find different things offensive. Joke around with who you know will take a joke. Also learn to take a joke from others. But if a member is purposely found bothering a poster again and again just because you feel they think they have the right to say what they feel like, it will not fly well with the moderators and administrators here. Action will be taken against that member.

I think you should read that and learn to respect those rules instead of doing whatever you want to instead, just to try to rile somebody up...

Yeah, I agree with you on that. You shouldn't have to be relegated to second class poster if you are a mod. WoKJ is notorious for being very open minded.

Dolce, I have a serious question. How many "private" forums will you be involved with before you notice that you're part of the clique here? Denying the existence of something so obvious really isn't the way I would go, but that's just me...

That just means i'm energetic. A clique doesn't mean I'm part of the "main page forum" that just means i work hard to produce features for a site I care about. Hell, its clearly not like everyone who has access to that forum is good buddies. I don't even know who has acccess to that forum. Are you really going to accuse me and Scott V of being part of the same clique? Also, we beg people to join, and have never had an exclusionary method of handling front page material. I actually started a whole thread in Cinemania begging more people to join. I have also contacted Boyfresh and Termi at different times throughout the year asking them to write articles. Rusty had thought he would join and do a weekly column. Am I in a clique with Boyfresh, rusty and termi? Interesting...because it would be the first I'd heard of it.

And I don't actually have access to the mod forum. I don't see that as meaning the mods are a clique. In fact, from what I know, they even have communication lapses at points.

Rogue's hidden forum for mayhem had a whopping me and him in their. Thats not a clique, unless I and rogue are part of the clique. Its just him asking for someone to help him out with a big event he hosted.

Sure, I guess you could see the list of 100 jurors as a clique, just because there are ten of them, and because they voted in a hidden forum. But I really don't spend all my time spending pm's to Groucho. Is he, like, part of the clique too? Also, that jury rotates. So are the_dark_shape and neo-wolf all in on the clique too? Just wondering. Cause damn, that's such a big clique it could be considered an entire colony by now. And I won't have access to that forum during that time, btw. I like to think that panel, most people of which I don't talk to normally, was invited due to their film knowledge, not their ability to act like 12 year olds girls at recess. Nay, I know that's why they were asked.

Are there friends here? People who feel more comfortable with some than others. Yeah. Why I said I don't have a problem with "cliques" is because I don't really consider them cliques. I see people gravitating towards who they want to hang out with, and then hanging out with them.

To the topic. It seems that there are two points here. One: the top 100 lists. If a large majority of people here don't like them, I guess we don't have to do them anymore. The jury changes depending on the genre, so I can assure you the horror jury would be nothing like this past one.

We just thought it would be a nice way for people to showcase their individual points of strength.

If its backfiring, there's not that much point in conintuing it I guess. It shouldn't be the reason for tons of pages of upset people who usually get along, well, to not get along.

The second issue, which seems to be bigger, is the "clique" issue. I've never personally felt it. But I guess that its because I always assumed posters will gravitate towards whom they're comfortable with. I dunno. I never had a problem with the fact that some people I really admire and like hang out with their friends in the b.o. forum (which I am going to avoid with a ten foot pole from now on). I think the only time it can become a question is perhaps in modding. But I'd really find it tough for anyone to say libs, zingy, makeshift, and xiayun (for example...I know there are other mods, but listing them all isn't necessary for the point) are all in on the same chatting. Many of them have erred at one point or another, but it can't be said they're a clique.

If the clique is about the lists? I say just drop the lists. Seems like too much trouble considering what they are vs. what they're doing to people's trust.

Me? I'd put a couple noms in for horror...none of which would make it through to the top 100 with real horror buffs on the jury. But I wouldn't be all that upset about it. I know I get really easily scared. And hey..not a single one of my quotes for the quote list made it either. All three of them were dead last actually.

So the only problem I see with juried lists is that its exclusionary. With a rotating jury, that's pretty hard to feel. I think the horror buffs will make the list. But if its suggestions we're looking for here? Maybe a week before the list begins prelim rounds, have a sign-up sheet for anyone who thinks they'd like to be part of the jury for that genre? And then contact them and tell them the time requirements, obligations, etc. If they're still up for it, maybe put them on? I have faith that most people here wouldn't demand to be on juries for lists they're not competent in. I wouldn't do horror, I wouldn't do action, hell, unless its indies and foreigns, and has to do with Moolaade, Bad Education, My Summer of Love, or Murderball at this point...I probably wouldn't even apply for any other jury positions.

Just a thought. I don't know, but I'd like to find a way for the lists to go on that doesn't lead to deep resentment. If anyone else has suggestions and is willing to toss them out despite the fact that they may not eventually pan out...I say maybe do it here? Might help get the air out?

Dolce, you're so diplomatic.

Well I'm being serious. I think the cons of having these lists is outweighing the pros at this moment. I thought people wouldn't mind when they saw the the panels were changing in accordance with the genre film being listed, but since people still seem to be uncomfortable with the idea. I just owuldn't do it. Thats just me though.

You started with me twice. If the head mod has no respect for the rules, why the hell should anyone else? It didn't surprise me that you whined about bABA explaining the hidden forums, because you obviously think you are above having to explain yourself. You are an embarrassment. The immaturity you continue to show is not looking bad on me. I'm just a member here.

Again, thank you for your imput Mav. It is much appreciated. I have nothing further to say for now. I have to go. Glad to discuss it later with you. But just saffice to say that your behaviour for the last two months here has been psychotic. Like I said, I may be immature, but I'm not the one who needs a straight jacket.

Well most people here who are active and support the site regularly know his name. Most people know my name too. You can call me by it if you want.

And I did read the thread. And I already pointed out that he can be abrasive.

Show me were I attacked him first. He started his shit last night, and he started it again this morning. You will not find any cases of me insulting him first. Show me were I did, as you definitely tried to slant it that way in your defense.
