I'm not making this up https://variety.com/2025/film/news/mart ... 236314279/ The Rock + Leo bring very different audiences so this could make a huge amount of money. With Leo + The Rock and Scorese and Blunt it's going to have a min of a $150M+ budget probably, with $70M+ just in talent salaries... |

I'd love to see the Rock in this role though and Scorsese having fun and making a mainstream movie again like Shutter Island, though the script not being written yet seems like he could easily just get distracted by this 3.5 hour passion projects instead of this. |

Interesting. Gives off Get Shorty/Elmore Leanard vibes (which is good). I wonder if Scorsese will ever get to make Sinatra and The Wager though. Just found out that Devil in White City will be a TV series not a feature. |

So Leo has PTA, Scorsese and Chazelle movies coming up. I think Scorsese with Rock could be his biggest in a while. Other 2 need something special to be a big BO hit. |

Black Adam would probably adjust to $200M+ by the time this comes out (estimate 2027 at the earliest) showing what a feel like a floor would be here. Seems like this looks good to be Leo's #3 film at least at the box office behind Titanic and Inception, surpassing Revenant at $184M. The Rock / Leo at each other is such a different dynamic from his usual but it worked wonders for The Departed with Jack vs Leo. |

Quote: Surf’s up for 20th Century Studios. The Disney division has picked up the Hawaii-set crime thriller package that has Leonardo DiCaprio, Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt attached to star, and Martin Scorsese attached to direct. Lei-ed with a script by journalist and author Nick Bilton, the fact-based untitled movie is said to be in the mold of Scorsese’s Goodfellas and The Departed and center on a mob boss vying for control of the Hawaiian islands in the 1960s and 1970s. All the players will also be producers on the project: Scorsese is producing via his Sikelia Productions banner, Johnson via Seven Bucks Productions, DiCaprio via his Appian Way Productions, and Blunt through her Ledbury Productions company. Bilton is producing through his banner, True Story Productions, as well. The project’s origins come from the ‘ohana-like bond between Blunt and Johnson. The concept and film idea originated from Blunt. And now Johnson is co-authoring a book with Bilton on the subject. The untitled story tells of a formidable and charismatic mob boss who rises to build the islands’ most powerful criminal empire, waging a brutal war against mainland corporations and rival syndicates while fighting to preserve his ancestral land. His ruthless quest for absolute power ignited the last great American mob saga, where the war for cultural survival takes place in the unlikeliest of places: paradise. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movie ... 236171361/ Looks pretty good for this to happen. |
