Surprised this doesn’t already exist. You know what to do

Princess Mononoke is the greatest Animated Movie of all time, so of course it makes for one of my picks.

Spirited Away is also a masterpiece so it makes the list.

Finally I chose Grave of the Fireflies as one of the most emotional movies ever made.

These three would probably make my top ten animated films as well. Ghibli probably trumps Pixar as the best animated studio ever with only a few blunders and disappointments and reaches heights Pixar hasn’t dared to go to.

If I included Nausica (which isn’t Studio Ghibli but is Miyazaki) it would be Tier 3. It is certainly epic, but doesn’t hold up well on repeat viewings and Nausica is kinda an annoying protagonist. Princess Mononoke did that story so much better.

Still have alot of work to do here. The first 3 are all undisputedly awesome though. I'd have Your Name ranked 3, Suzume 5 and Weathering With You 6 if movies inspired by Ghibli counted.

Castle in the Sky is great. Weirdly enough I think it is the only Ghibli film I have seen that has a traditional villain

Only seen Spirited Away and Totoro but I wasn’t a huge fan honestly.

I had only watched Spirited away pre pandemic but watched most once they came on Netflix. Princess Mononoke really was amazing and has now become my favorite.

I am starting to think with further viewing, Boy and the Heron might climb to number four here. Like it just isn’t narratively or emotionally on the level with the other tier 1s, but I can’t stop thinking about this movie in the best way. It stays with you ya know?

I've only seen Ponyo and it was pretty good but I just dont have enough enthusiasm to watch any of these.

If you are going to watch one, watch Princess Mononoke

English dub is very good. It was written by Neil Gaiman. I have one qualm with it, but it is minor
