Which of the major animation studios is the worst? I think it's easy to agree that it's one of these three and not Pixar, Disney, Dreamworks, Laika, Aardman, Paramount or Warner Bros.

Sony Pictures Animation has had exactly one film that was good and did well. Cloudy 1. The Hotel Transylvania movies are alright, not horrible but not good either. Same with cloudy 2. They've made lots of awful films, like Open Season, The Smurfs 1, 2, and The Lost Village, and the Emoji Movie. But a strength in their films has always been incredibly inventive visuals and imagery despite awful scripts.

Blue Sky made the first Ice Age which was good. Then they made a couple of alright sequels, and two piss poor sequels. Rip was alright but the sequel was awful. Robots is awful. Horton Hears a Who is alright. Epic was eh. Peanuts was pretty decent. Their films aren't generally as poor as Sonys on a script level, but their Animation is pretty poor in comparison.

My pick for the worst Animation studio is Illumination. Because unlike the two studios above, people like Illumination movies and they makes trucks of money. The first two despicable mes are decent. Hop, The Lorax, Minions, Pets and Sing are all hot garbage, and DM3 is pretty meh as well. Every film they make feels like it came from a machine. The animation is uninteresting and looks cheap (cause it is), the stories are awful, the characters are annoying, their movies end up with so much fucking merchandise it's disgusting, and people see them en masse anyway.

Blue Sky.

The Ice Age films are terrible, in my opinion -- predictable, boring, and not funny (except for the Skrat parts). Rio was almost as bad. The only good film they made is the Peanuts movie.

Illumination is okay. The Despicable Me films are entertaining, and even rewatchable (although I have yet to see 3). Sing and the Secret Life of Pets were okay. Haven't seen Hop or Lorax or Minions.

Sony includes Aardman so that tilts them strongly to the lead -- Arthur Christmas and Pirates are excellent films. But if you discount those, the rest suck, placing them below Illumination. Surf's Up was clever, and parts of Hotel Translyvania were very funny, but the rest were pretty bad, some so bad I had no desire to see them, and I'm a big fan of animated films.

Why not include all options in the poll and let people choose for themselves? You're such a pussy, man. Don't be afraid if your favourite is chosen as the "worst".

Are we considering Aardman group in Sony Animation? Because otherwise they are clearly the worst.

Looking down the three studios' filmographies, it's pretty much a wash. They're essentially just sausage factories pumping out generic product for undiscerning American parents to anesthetize their kids in the back of minivans.

Illumination Entertainment

Despicable Me
Hop
Dr. Seuss' The Lorax
Despicable Me 2
Minions
The Secret Life of Pets
Sing
Despicable Me 3

Sony Pictures Animation

Open Season
Surf's Up
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs
The Smurfs
Arthur Christmas
The Pirates! Band of Misfits[
Hotel Transylvania
The Smurfs 2
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2
Hotel Transylvania 2
Goosebumps
Smurfs: The Lost Village
The Emoji Movie

Blue Sky Studios

Ice Age
Robots
Ice Age: The Meltdown
Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who!
Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs
Rio
Ice Age: Continental Drift
Epic
Rio 2
The Peanuts Movie
Ice Age: Collision Course

(For the poll, I picked Blue Sky as the worst, based on their horrendous miscalculation to do Peanuts with 3D character art.)

Cool. I thought they are still some American counterpart.

For Sony the two great ones Pirates and Arthur Christmas are from Aardman. Goosebumps is surely not animation movie. Rest of their movies are good but none of them great.
