Quote:
“The studio have asked me to think about writing a sequel, and it is one of the ones that I might do a sequel to, because I think there’s somewhere more to go with it in terms of the characters,” he recently told the Empire podcast. “Baby has got to go to a new place.”

Wright added that he has a fairly vague idea of what a follow-up film would be about. “I sort of have an idea that if you did another [film], you would subvert his involvement in the crime in a different way so he’s not the apprentice anymore.”

Personally I thought the original Baby Driver overstayed its welcome - there was already one heist too many to sustain it's drive. So the thought of Edgar Wright wasting his talent on dragging it out even further, rather than working on new original material is disappointing at best.

Bradley is such an exacting dude in general...I always wonder if his habit of writing "it's" rather than "its" is an odd, character-deepening flourish rather than an actual error.

Anyway, Baby Driver does not immediately call out for a sequel, I don't feel.
Spoiler: show
Particularly after the bloated epilogue with him going to prison and then reuniting with Debora, not to mention the most flavorful characters (the villains) all dying. It feels almost laboriously resolved. Maybe if it ended in a more loose, "cool" way with Debora and Baby just escaping into the night to an uncertain future.
Also, Wright's cool concept of car-chases-as-musical-numbers might start to feel old hat.

As much as I love Baby Driver I would of course be excited for a sequel, but that doesn't mean I think there should be one. Really don't know where they'd go with it.
