"Lux Aeterna"/"Requiem for a Tower" is just epic.

There was a time when Lux Aterna was used a lot. Don't here it anymore. That 3-minute trailer felt so short. Indeed it's a great trailer.

Why did early 2000's trailers give away the whole movie?

Yup. Best blockbuster trailer ever.

I don't think they did. They were better back then.

It's good but not the best ever. There are tons more better ones.

There might be some that are better, but certainly not tons.

At the time sure. I don't think I was ever more excited for other movies that year. Maybe because it's been copied to death, then parodied to death, it just seems rather just ok now. It certainly doesn't have that Alien/ Superman stand the test of time trailer of iconic-ness anymore.

And I think even at the time. Austin Powers in Goldmember, Signs, and Die Another Day (Teaser) had better trailers just from 2002. Though unlike those turds TTT was one of the best films ever made. It has to come down to that the trailer is rather unremarkable other than the song they choice. It was brilliant marketing at the time, but today, that's what is the norm and any random film can do that. Looking at the link today, I'm like I can't believe I was so blown away by that.

It's an unfortunate situation of a film's marketing campaign that was once revolutionary, has been horribly diluted.

I'm not sure if it would make my top 25 outside of influence reasons.

I fucking hated James Bond during that time period, but that bullet into the car and the music cue, ahh, that just butter on a hot baked potato. People went fucking ape shit when I saw that. It was the first Bond film I ever wanted to see in theaters (And was Old enough to even see Goldeneye in theaters if I wanted to.) I'm not saying TTT isn't a better trailer (That's a teaser for Bond) but as said, it's been completely diluted over the years, that I can't distinguish it from any other trailer that copied it. I don't think it holds up nearly as well as you think it does.

But hey, it's still solid, and it's influence over the last 14 years is duly noted. For Bond, I can say that is one fucking cool teaser for a fucking terrible movie.

Is anyone else missing the VO's now? I feel like they completely fell out over the last few years. My issue is that now they are using speeches or corny lines from the movies that don't really go together to tell the idea of the movie, of course mixed in with music lyrics.

Lecter? Would you be interested in doing a list. I know everyone's would be all over the place but I'd love to hear your other picks.

Here is a small selection taken from this thread, but there are tons more. ;)

I feel like watching 90s and early 00s trailers, even two-minute trailers, I didn't ever get the impression that I was being spoiled the entire movie. But these days, I just cannot watch most two-minute trailers for films I am anticipating. The art of trailer-making is not dead, but it's certainly rare. Anticipation, for example in the Kill Bill Vol. 1 trailer, was created by showing literally seconds of footage. Most of it is made by music and text. Such an effective teaser.

Always liked that trailer, although it completely undersells how smart the movie actually is.

Nothing gets me pumped like this; just after the minute mark when the music starts:

I also love this teaser:

And this trailer campaign is great:

And this might just be one of the most perfectly produced trailers/campaigns ever:

It's the promise of "yes, you will feel like you need a cigarette and a shower after you watch this movie".

I can't figure out how to embed properly using the YouTube tags, but a couple more:

1:43-on when James Horner's Glory score kicks in is just pure bliss.

Choose the youtube tag (not youtube1 or youtube2):

and then it will display like this:

I don't think that works with mobile. My computer broke over a year ago and I still haven't been able to post a tube video on here.
