The best is probably Finding Dory or Captain America, neither of which seems destined to be a classic. Hopefully Fall will be better.

10 Cloverfield Lane was a better blockbuster than anything released so far this summer by a longshot.

Hmm, cost $15m and made $72m. 10 Cloverfield Lane is not at all a blockbuster.

Civil War was an A+ film. Conjuring 2 was solid and better than the original. Ghostbusters, X-Men, Dory and The Shallows were pretty good too.

Last summer had 9 movies I gave a B+ or higher to. Counting Civil War as 2, we have 7 this year with Sausage Party (and Neighbors/Nice Guys on blu ray) still to come. So it's lagging, but not abnormally bad or anything.

Last year had both Inside Out and Mad Max though, both of which seem destined to become classics.

As you said this year the best wide release is CA:CW. Which did not have as strong of a reception as Winter Soldier, and already seems like audiences were only momentarily satisfied with it, given its truly atrocious multiplier.

I haven't even been to the movies once this summer.

Nothing has piqued my interest enough to warrant it.

It happens.

Remember the summer of 2006? There were, like, 2 good movies that entire summer. OK, maybe 3 (The Devil Wears Prada, Little Miss Sunshine, Talladega Nights).

I was eight, but I loved Cars. And I thought they were boring when I was little, but I love Dead Man's Chest.

2016 B+ or higher Films: The Nice Guys, CA, Central Intelligence, Star Trek, Finding Dory, The Shallows, Bad Moms
2016 Decent films: Money Monster, Apocalypse, Conjuring 2, Ghostbusters, JB, Purge, BFG, SLOP

Total 15

2015 B+ Or Higher: AOU, Mad Max, Spy, Inside Out, Ant Man, Trainwreck, MI5, The Gift
2015 Decent Films: San Andreas, Jurassic World, TG, Southpaw, Vacation, Compton, UNCLE, Walk in the Woods

Total 16

Pretty much a wash for me, and there are a few films left I think I have potential like SS, Sausage Party, Don't Breathe, War Dogs and Pete's Dragon

2014 was the real stinker. I don't think I liked more than 10 films that year.

Really, the last truly great summer was 2009. Star Trek, Up, The Hangover, Inglorious Basterds, 500 Days of Summer, District 9, and Drag Me to Hell were all quality wide-releases. No other summer since then has come close IMO.

It's almost like you're leaving out HP just to annoy me.

It wasn't even decent? Please, it is at least a good film, even if you don't love it.

And GOF is the worst Harry Potter movie.

GOF is the only Potter film i went to see in a theater and of the 4 ive seen the best one IMO.

This summer have only seen three films Civil War, Dory and TMNT2. The latter two for my kids. I thought Dory was good and Civil War was great.

Hoping to still catch Trek, Bourne and SS.
