![]() Quote: Warner Bros. will release an untitled Christopher Nolan movie on July 21, 2017. It’s his first feature film since “Interstellar,” which opened last November with worldwide grosses of $673 million with Paramount handling the domestic release and Warners on the international rollout. Warner Bros. has all rights on the new project but gave no details. The dating announcement was the first news of the project. The studio handled all three films in Nolan’s Dark Knight series — “Batman Begins,” “The Dark Knight” and “The Dark Knight Returns” — along with his 2010 sci-fi hit “Inception.” The trilogy grossed $2.45 billion worldwide while “Inception” took in over $800 million. Nolan produces through his Syncopy label with spouse Emma Thomas. He directed and had screenwriting credits on the Dark Knight trilogy, “Inception,” “Interstellar” and his 2006 drama “The Prestige.” Nolan came on to direct “Interstellar” in early 2013 and co-wrote the script with his brother Jonathan Nolan while producing the film with Thomas and Lynda Obst. The Nolan movie is the fourth title to be dated for July 21, 2017, following Universal’s “Pitch Perfect 3,” EuropaCorp’s “Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets” and an untitled Blue Sky animation project from Fox. http://variety.com/2015/film/news/chris ... 201588444/ |

Wow, that's what I call news. A director will make a film in 2017. On a certain date no less! |

Fair enough, but he is the most obsessed-over director on this forum, and this news will presumably be followed very soon by a landslide of casting announcements, vague plot details, etc. So I figured it was worth posting. Now go do your algebra and brush your teeth. |

Now go do your algebra and brush your teeth. No, this does not even deserve a "fair enough". This is the biggest film news released today, as also seen by the number of comments this receives everywhere. |

The pattern is often that, Caine aside, he usually keeps his actors for two movies. Hathaway in TDKR, followed by Interstellar, Hardy in Inception, followed by TDKR, Joseph Gordon-Levitt in Inception, followed by TDKR, Bale in Batman Begins, followed by The Prestige (obviously the Batman-sequels too, but those are a given). If that pattern continues, we might see McConaughey and/or Chastain in his next. |

Why did DiCaprio get tossed over? Personally I'd love it if Guy Pearce was back |

I think its big news. They've stalked out a major summer release date so Nolan looks to be going BIG in scope again. Let's see. |

Tom Hardy again? lol. I suppose Michael Caine can also get a role as an old British lieutenant. Then it just leaves Christian Bale. I'm sure he can be the lead. |

Gotta say I wasn't that interested at first, but seeing Hardy, Rylance, and Branagh in a WW2 film directed by Nolan does sound EPIC!. Also, knowing him it's going to be HUGE in terms of scope and will most likely get hard R rating. Yeah I'm down. |

Thats a pretty awesome statement from QT. And he's right. Couldnt be happier that Nolan is changing genre and directing Dunkirk. Im just pissed its so far off. |

If it doesn't have the usual Nolan complexity to it, will it be a true Nolan? For him to be an auteur, it would need an element of mind-bending or non-linearity to it. |
