***

I'm kind of excited this is finally seeing the light of day. When I was young, I was a huge fan of 54. I haven't seen it in years, probably not since I was 12 or 13, so I'm sure it doesn't hold up as well as it did but since this is supposed to be so radically different and better, I'm very excited and hope it comes out soon.

I really want to see it. I've heard it's so much better. I thought the initial cut was alright but not great. Might have been had it not been chopped up. I'm glad they're releasing this. It's pretty exciting that the director's original vision is going to get a second chance at life.

Thanks for posting the article. Interesting read.

I've always wanted to see 54. My crush on Neve Campbell is still alive. Just. Perhaps I'll check it out.

Indeed - I've been wanting to see 54 since I missed it in theatres. Here's a chance I guess.

For whatever reason, 54 (the club) always interested me as a kid. There's just nothing like it in America anymore, at least in the mainstream.

I think I got through half of the movie once and thought Meyers was very good, but that was about it. I'll give the new cut a look when it comes out.

Tomorrow it's supposed to be on iTunes.

I'd use my vudu credits on this digital release though I would prefer a physical disc.

Seems like iTunes is the only place to get it now. They said there aren't plans for a Blu-ray release but I don't buy that. I assume it will have one eventually.

I still need to see the theatrical cut. Hayek and Neve were my dream babes.

May as well not bother with that now. Just watch the Director's Cut which is supposed to be a legit great flick.

Well, it all depends which one comes on torrent first.

I just now watched this last night. I bought it day 1 and it took me way too long to get around to watching it but damn, this is a great flick. I feel like you'll appreciate it the most if you have seen the original cut, which is shit in comparison. A real shame it couldn't have been released as is in 1998. The cut that was released didn't please audiences or critics. A failure all around. This cut could have at least gotten great reviews. Possibly even a Supporting Actor nomination for Mike Myers playing against type.

Unlike many movies that suffer from studio tampering I am really happy we finally got to see the film as intended.

Is it significantly different from the released cut?

Absolutely. Most director's cuts are just a few added minutes but this is pretty much an entirely different film.

Cool. I already thought the original film was solid.
