I don't think trying to be like Marvel would be the right choice

To be fair, it never was. If Marvel goes right, you go left. Otherwise you will always be the copycat, the wannabe, etc. Now that Marvel's formula is struggling or looking fatigued, DC definitely needs to stay in their lane. Changing now would be idiotic.

Didn’t realize Gunn took a CEO role. Interesting. I wish Filoni or Favreau would do the same for the Star Wars franchise.

Gunn will focus on the creative side of things, while Safran will focus on the business and production side. Both are expected to continue to direct and produce projects, respectively. They will report directly to Zaslav and work closely with Warners film bosses De Luca and Pamela Abdy. Sources say the deal runs four years and Gunn will be exclusive to DC. The goal is for them not just to be producers, but to truly function as executives even as Gunn will occasionally hone a movie.

Unlike Marvel Studios, DC has multiple films set in separate creative universes, and according to sources, Joker filmmaker Todd Phillips’ work on the upcoming sequel, which goes into production later this year, will not fall under Gunn and Safran’s purview and instead will be overseen by De Luca and Abdy. Matt Reeves, who worked under Hamada, has a budding universe based on his The Batman movie. It is unclear under whose purview Reeves’ future projects would fall, but everything else moving forward would be under Gunn and Safran’s.

:D Great news! DCEU welcome to the DCU

Well Gunn's first steps are pretty shocking. Wonder Woman 3 cancelled. Man of Steel 2 put on hold. Aquaman 2 will be the finale of the Snyderverse. After that, Momoa might be recast as Lobo? Seemed llke it was lining up for the trinity to all have new films in 2025. I don't think this will work very well at the box office, but I'm all for Gunn turning the whole DCU into The Suicide Squad.

Cavill left The Witcher for nothing!

The DCEU is in a weird place. Do you mostly scrap the upcoming schedule and reboot it in several years? Or do you try and make the remaining films better and try to grow from there?

Kinda sounds like WBD and now Gunn are going with the former, so good luck. Neither path is going to be easy.

Cavill left the Witcher because he wasn’t happy with the show. Not because he’s doing Superman.

Think the Wonderwoman 3 stuff was a bit overblown. The second movie wasn't very good and was a big let down IMO since Kristin was in there and felt they sort of wasted the supporting talent. Due to Covid its box office was low but pretty sure that was going to lose 1/2 of its predecessor's box office in regular times with the quality of the movie.

They couldn't spare another bad Wonder Woman movie/story so the quality has to be there next time.

Biggest casualty has to be Michael Keaton. 9 picture deal is going to turn into a reduced role in The Flash. (Cancelled Batgirl, refilmed his Aquaman scenes with Affleck, reduced role in Flash, and cancelled Batman Beyond) The most exciting DC news of 2020 is now going to be one of the most interesting stories since Cage/Burton Superman film.

Are the snyderverse fans on Twitter mostly bots? Their tweets are so cut and paste it really makes me think they are.

Saw this article and looks like The Rock maybe got a bit too pushy here in terms of some of his asks of WB. Even with Marvel and the Avengers Feige still runs the show. Sounds like The Rock ruffled some feathers.

I guess we will miss out on the Rock creating a fake social media feud with Cavill before Black Adam vs Superman

Miller should be in prison, not in movies.

Couldnt care less about Dwayne but would much rather have him remain in the DCU than Miller. Would be a joke if they kept him in...

Surely it's not wise to publicly sack Miller until The Flash has been out a while.

I just do not understand the Keaton decision unless it was his choice. I thought of all the dc decisions, it was the safest and coolest, but he seems happy to be out and collect his 12+ play contraction. Total shame. Some are saying as 27 to buy him out
