Post subject:  Favourite CHRISTIAN BALE Performance?

This weeks feature on Rotten Tomatoes is Christian Bale, and people are rightly pissed off that they left American Psycho out of the Top 10 because based on the RT score, it's not high enough. I wondered what the result would be if the goal was to find the BEST PERFORMANCE of Christian Bale's career, and not simply his highest rated movies.

I would hope that you choose based on the performance of Christian Bale in the movie and not because it's your favourite movie or because some other actor died before it was released. ;)

You may choose 3, but I'd like to know your favourite performance of his as well. Maybe rank your Top 3.

I chose:

1. American Psycho
2. Rescue Dawn
3. Harsh Times

In Harsh Times he really creates a sense of volatility. I didn't know what he was going to do next. He puts his all into Rescue Dawn, as well as losing the weight and looking like crap for months. And American Psycho is all Bale. He carries the movie. It's about him, so naturally he does, but to carry it so well and show so many sides to the character; panic, sophisitication, disgust, anger, joviality etc., and still uphold the surface integrity that Patrick Bateman has is truly great.

The Fighter, Terminator Salvation and The Machinist were close to getting on my list. He has so many great performances.

Empire of the Sun and The Newsies are very solid films.

His best role will always be Patrick Bateman though. It's ironic that I wouldn't put Batman anywhere near his top 5.

As great as Nolan's trilogy is, Christian Bale's performances in them weren't anything special.

Christian Bale's whole career is a fantastic performance anyway.
