Swayze is a good one, I remember after Point Break he had a major substance abuse problem, then he broke both his legs, and really didn't do anything in his genres after that. Lori Petty also from Point Break and A League of Their Own really disappeared after that Pauly Shore film and Tank Girl.

I also remember thinking Edward Burns was close but never really caught on. He seemed like he would have been a reliable character actor after Saving Private Ryan, 15 minutes, etc. I guess he got caught up in directing, He even managed to be in the worst of the worst bad horror remakes. But I don't think he ever really got popular.

There are people who were "names" in Hollywood" and then there are people who are "names" in pop culture. Swayze is definitely a good one- he was hugely popular w/ the combo of Dirty Dancing, Ghost (which is a forgotten MEGAhit) and Point Break. Road House was also in there too. Then he just vanished into thin air.

Is it too soon to add Daisy Ridley and John Boyega to this list? Going nowhere quick...

That's a good one actually. She was supposed to be the next big thing after Meet Joe Black. But that film never really took off (though it opened well enough thanks to The Phantom Menace teaser).

:funny: oh my god I remember this!

Not an actor, but Neil Blomkamp fits here now. Demonic has terrible reviews and is barely being released.
