I can't watch SpikeTv even for Indy. I'm surprised about all the new found love for McConaughey on here. Five years ago, you'd find a who's worst thread between him and Channing Tatum. I"ll have to check out some of his stuff since Ghosts of Girlfriends Past and Lincoln Lawyer. Cause up until then, he's the still same old McConaughey.

My major issue with him is that he has spent years settling/slumming as the 2nd lead in romantic comedies, and starred in a whole lot of shitty genre films. I'd consider wasting talent to be a more of a sin that someone being really bad just squeezing all the milk they can while they have some popularity.

Just because his usual films are shitty, doesn't make him a bad actor.

He's often the best part about those shitty films.

I'm not sure, Contact, Amistad, and A time to Kill are pretty solid films, and he's definitely the weakest part in them. That's very chicken and the egg discussion. Which came first, the bad film, or the bad actor? The man could be funny and charming, but he could not convincingly be a lead until Frailty/EdTv.

Saying he's the best thing about 10 Things I hate about you is not a valid argument. You're not going to change my opinion. He wouldn't be my pick either, just wanted to fan out some of the choices and cover a wider area

I got news for you, 19 people on this list aren't my pick either. It's list of 20 people, pick one of them or someone else not the list. A lot of them have good roles here and there. (Grace, Reeves, Fraser, Arquette) Just cause McCaunahey is supposedly great now, doesn't erase the 10+ times he's been terrible or completely forgettable.

Having McConaughey in the poll is downright retarded.

I am going to use this thread to say this: he definitely has charisma, comic timing, and a certain down-to-earth-yet-macho screen presence, which are great attributes for a blossoming A-list star, but I do not believe Chris Pratt has much dexterity or inspiration as an actual actor. Maybe even less than his fellow studly Marvel Chrises, Evans and Hemsworth. Parts of Passengers demand slightly more than he can give.

The poll was a bad idea, I'd say 99.9% of it came from my list (half assed to begin with, I just thought of 20 shitty actors off the top of my head.) I hadn't seen Mud, Killer Joe, etc. Matty boy really turned it around right when this thread went out. But of the last 40 years, he is easily the worst actor to ever with Best Actor, outside of Roberto (But he is apparently a national treasure to his homeland)

He does not belong here anymore. I'll put him in the hit or miss category now with a strong 3 years in there. Funny that him and Affleck both really excelled the last few years.

Oh and I know I met get shit for the Oscar comment, let me clarify. He was fantastic and amazing in that movie and deserved to win, I am strictly talking from the consistency of performances of the other actors who have won. It's him, Roberto and Angels in the outfield costar Adrien Brody

When you talk about worst actor ever, you're aiming (or should be aiming) at the likes of Mark Sinclair, Paul Walker, Tyrese Gibson, Channing Tatum, Jean-Claude Van Damme etc.
