5. Too Little Too Late Sequels

I tried to figure how was I to incorporate these films, as we all know it was the eventual announcement of Episode VII that made me come up with the idea for this thread. We also now have upcoming sequels to Ghostbusters, Conan, and Mad Max. For some of us, these development hell sequels were the reasons most of us got into these kind of forums 15 years ago. And while the sequels are eventually coming out, they are in fact bitter sweet. The original Casts are gone from most of them, which is strike 1 against why we wanted sequels in the first place, and the ones that remain are shells of their former selves. No one wants to see a frail Conan, Fat Leia, and a Mad Max without the Maddest version of him yet. These sequels would have been awesome 15-20 years ago, when we demanded them and the stars maybe slightly past their primes could still at least fit the bill. Now they are up to so many different changes that the sequels we wanted will never exist, and what will come could be some of the biggest crashes to our childhoods. Not to say some of these can't out perform our expectations, but let's be real. While I did enjoy the new Indy, Terminator, Die Hard, we can all agree none past their predecessors. Now will come these even years after those sequels seemed like they were barely held together by glue.

I love Mel Gibson, but I have no problem with Tom Hardy playing Max, especially with George Miller still in the director's chair. Hardy is a badass.

I have a problem with it. Hardy is no Mel Gibson. Do you know the worst thing? Mel has a cameo. Ugh, the dreaded cameo.

4. Property of a Lady

While I'm glad he is finally getting the better reception than he did back then, I was a huge fan of Timothy Dalton as James Bond, and for those that don't know UA had every intention of bringing him back for a third time if not for the legal troubles. However as more and more time went by Dalton got increasingly frustrated that the script could not be finished, and eventually left his contract. The script was reworked, and Pierce Brosnan was offered the role he was first considered for back around For Your Eyes Only. As we know Goldeneye is one great reintroduction to the series, but remnants of Dalton's Bond are still all over the script. A darker story, Brosnan his most serious in the role, and thanks to the legal proceedings being sorted out the more expensive Bond film that lit up the US. Sure Goldeneye may not have been better or worst with Dalton, but I don't see why it couldn't be. He deserved a third one.

3. Jaws 2 by Steven Spielberg

As Jaws continued to climb the record books, Spielberg and Dreyfuss bowed out to work on Close Encounters of the Third Kind, however as the production for Jaws II was continuously had problems, Spielberg eventually came back on board and even wrote a screenplay. The story, a prequel set during the times of Quint and the USS Indianapolis, how the sinked vessel and members of the military on board would deal with cold, wounds, and of course man eating sharks. It's a downright terrifying idea that if you ask me. The studio however refused to let Spielberg be involved as his contract to Columbia and Close Encounters needing at least a year's left of work, they did not want to miss out on someone capitalizing on the success of the first film. What we got of course was a so so rehash of the first film. I'm still kind of surprised that they went two more crappy ways for more sequels and the idea of the prequel film from concept could have been just as terrifying as the original.

Sligthly a cheat because Jaws 2 actually happened.

So did Goldeneye, Alien 3, Sum of All Fears, and Batman Forever. I think there is a good amount of intrigue in the not necessarily never made, more an alternative possibility. Especially if there was a chance to do it.

So what is #2 and #1?

And you now need to remove #16. ;)
