Re: Call your shot: Who wins between Butler, Farrell or Fras Haven't seen any of the movies yet. I think Farrell is a beloved actor who the academy will be happy to award, and they need that after all the drama surrounding last year's winner,
But also wouldn't be at all surprised by Butler. They just can't get enough of biopics.
Can't see Frasier. As much as the academy loves transformative roles, they love snubbing comedians even more. Laugh at your own risk, kids.

Farrell isn't old enough or respected enough to get it yet considering his colourful playboy/action movie past. And Butler just isn't very good as Elvis, so he's just lucky to be nominated.

This would be both his and Farrell's first nominations. You're right that Fraser is older, but they're both ingenues when it comes to oscar recognition. Fraser has a shot but its not a done deal.
