My ranking would be...

Licorice Pizza
West Side Story
Nightmare Alley
The Power of the Dog
King Richard
Dune
Don't Look Up
Belfast

Haven't seen Coda or Drive My Car yet.

Post Re: Rank the 2022 Best Picture nominees
I had a similar problem with last year’s crop of nominees—except for a few exceptions, I just don’t care enough to see a lot of them (Belfast, Power of Dog, Drive My Car, West Side, Nightmare Alley). The one I haven’t seen that I’d like to—CODA—is only available on ApplefuckingTV.

Ranked:

1. Don’t Look Up (still my pick for dark horse, WTF choice for Best Picture. At least people would be talking! Also I loved the movie)

2. Licorice Pizza (good movie, but also doesn’t feel that significant)

3. Dune (a gorgeous but cold and fundamentally incomplete movie)

4. King Richard (I generally don’t like any biopics. This was fine/meh)

1) Coda - Saw it last weekend. A pleasant surprise and big crowdpleaser. Could see it gain ground over the next few weeks.

2) Dune - Visually amazing. Feel its sequel will probably be more of a shoe in for director / picture so could see it missing out this time.

3) The Power of the Dog - Was good but found it forgettable.

4) Don't Look Up - Felt it was trying too hard. Realize that was what it was going for but didn't feel as fresh as it kept telling us it was.

Post Re: Rank the 2022 Best Picture nominees
Licorice Pizza finally gives me a real contender to root for (still a long shot, at least it got all the right noms unlike Dune.) Though even if the remaining films that I don't really care about were at the same level, I'd still be embarassed by all the legit bad movies that made it into this lineup.

(Suicide Squad) - 10/10
Licorice Pizza - 9.5/10
(Spencer) - 8.6
Dune - 8.5
King Richard - 7.8

Nightmare Alley - 5 (should have been Spencer)
Don't Look Up - 3 (should have been Spider-Man)
Power of the Dog - 1 (should not exist)
