Even if it's submitted it won't be selected. It's not a standalone movie and there are sequels that can feel like standalone movies. Academy never selects movies that are overly dependent on previous material or movies. Same with DS last year. I think Belle has a better chance than EVA. Soul won last time. Belle seem to have an advantage but Luca and Pinocchio are strong nominations. Let's pray for a miracle.... BTW, thank you for answering my curiosity |

I'd go Sound, FX, Production, Costume, Score. Suicide Squad for the rest. |

Kristen definitely has a great narrative this year, and Spencer is getting great reviews. But is she too white to win the year after the epic Boseman snub?? *Just looked at other contenders and no, she is apparently not lol. A bunch of also-ran white people with maybe Penelope Cruz. Will Smith or Denzel (likely) winning should quiet twitter for a few hours too. Lock it up for Kristen. |

White males are generally a bigger target, white women are still fine I believe. |

Will the British voters like the performance or will they feel like it's not what Diana was really like? I'm also still concerned about whether people will actually like the movie, you're better off with a forgettable by the numbers biopic when it comes to winning Oscars than an arty movie. |

Kristen seems most likely to win at this point. As of now I also can't see anything but Belfast winning Picture. |

After Nomadland they need a more populist BP winner than Belfast. King Richard being good would be ideal but I never trust a no name director nor do I trust Will Smith's taste in scripts. |

Spencer is down to 78 on meta while Richard is at 71. We gonna have a low ass average this year in the BP lineup, but all the better for Dune. And Suicide Squad of course. Belfast might be great but I will root against yet another black and white movie about a filmmaker's childhood anyday. |

Belfast debuts with only 79 on metacritic. Does that mean doom or will it be another Green Book? Campion looking like a good bet for direction? Perhaps Sebastian over Ciarin Hinds? |

tick, tick... Boom! a 76 on MC. Not enough to win but in play for BP nom and Best Actor win. The Power of the Dog seems like it will do the best with critics awards |

Shack you made a mistake and didn't include Suicide Squad in your forum description. |

Could Villenueve win Best Director? Branagh is probably the front runner but if there is a BP/BD split? |

I'd go Campion if there's Belfast BP split After watching the Power of the Dog trailer I feel like Cumberbatch takes Best Actor. It seems like a meaty bad guy role in a movie with much better reviews than King Richard, and he'll be hot from Spiderman. Overall good race with him/Smith/Garfield/Washington, and Cooper in Nightmare Alley is a wild card. |

West Side Story for BP? They could use a showier winner after Nomadland. Plus the Best Picture prophet picked it like two years ago. |

Seems like West Side Story is a big contender now, and Nightmare Alley is out of contention for top awards with a 69% at RT. |

I really don't understand why Belfast is getting so much love lol so weird. It's... fine. But I guess this happens a lot for Oscar baity movies. I'm all for West Side Story being BP if it's at least very good which seems to be the case. |

West Side Story is getting raves, if it weren't a remake I'd call it for the film. Magnus did predict it, just saying. |

Magnus predicted it would win the 2021 oscar. So it wouldn't hurt his record if it lost. Just do the right thing and give it to Dune. |
