Pretty good lists, except that since I like The Aviator a lot, I think it should get much better treatment than being almost completely ignored. Weird that Maria Full of Grace is No. 1 in the best non-English language film list, but it isn't in the top 8 of the overall list, even though HOFD and Hero made both.

Wow, lots of love for Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind! Nice.

What do the numbers mean if they are just noms? Does #1 have more votes for nomination than #8? Is that how it works? And now they vote in rounds for winners?

PEACE, Mike ;)

Somewhat unusual picks there, especially the omission of Jamie Foxx for Best Actor in Ray (well he got a nom for Collateral).

I think they are ranked according to the nomination votes, weighted by some formula. In the past, the lower seeds had won before once the first round began.

The more I looked at the list, the weirder it looks. No Bening for best actress, and Foxx is nominated for Collateral instead of Ray. I don't even know who vote for this award.

I'm glad to see John Williams get a nod for Prisoner of Azkaban. Maybe he will be nominated here instead of The Terminal? (If he's nominated at all).

The Aviator and especially the Phantom are missing spots. :?

For the Phantom, score and cinematography would be nomination shoe-ins I would guess. And even a breakthrough role for Rossum. Whether you like Phantom or not, she did an amazing job in the film.

ALOT of love for Eternal Sunshine!

I'm VERY VERY pleased with the amount of accolades they gave Kill Bill and Before Sunset, 2 films that transcend this year and in my opinion, rank among the best films in history of American cinema.

Also awesome to see Dogville finally getting some love, that was #3 on my list!

Look at Mean Girls for screenplay :) Good for it. I remember back when it came out, some were talking about screenplay for Tina Fey!

Pretty nice to see something different, though quite surprised by the omission of Ray and Aviator/Baby to a lesser extent.

Also, Paul Giamatti got most votes for Best Actor. Things are looking up!

He had great buzz before the movie opened, and received prettyu much the best reviews out of anyone in the film, before negative overall reviews for the film pretty much killed his chances at an Oscar nomination.

Still that's the first time I saw anyone mentioning him as Best Supporting Actor...I mean over Church and Freeman?!

Very very interesting.

It has come down to Eternal Sunshine and Before Sunset in more than 2 categories.

I am surprised and thrilled for Before Sunset. I expect Eternal Sunshine to take2 or all 3 of them, but I'm pulling for Sunset.
