I loved it. It was super fun, creative and above all scary, with a great sense of atmosphere and dread. Sophie Wilde was fantastic. A-

 Re: Talk to Me (2023)
High school kids looking at demonic possession as a tiktok challenge rather than something to be avoided at all costs? Yeah, that would never happ.... Oh yeah it totally would happen. Genius idea for a horror movie.
Talk To Me is also surprisingly deep and emotional too. While it does turn into a one-woman show after a little while, Sophie Wilde delivers a classic horror performance. Her sanity slips away as we the audience question who the real villain of this story is (in her defense, the kid wanted to do it and she shouldn't have been in the position of making parental decisions.) Being so quick and eager to join with the dead should have been a red flag though and as the traumas from the past unlock, it becomes quite tragic watching her fight with her demons. Yet the ending also feels appropriate rather than just the "lol the bad guys win" ending that so-called elevated horror usually goes with.
So I'll give Talk To Me a very strong 8.4/10 but I would never let you (the dead people reading this review) in.

 Re: Talk to Me (2023)
I saw this the Tuesday after it released and have been meaning to see it again. I thought it was fantastic. Those early seance scenes are very well-done and intense. Sophie Wilde is great.
Bring on Talk 2 Me.
9/10

The kids are excellent. The opening scene perfectly sets the tone. There's quite a lot to like here. Once it becomes crystal clear that it's It Follows for drugs, it lost me. You know exactly where it's going and how it's going to end. It might be the best after-school special ever made.
