While I quite enjoyed the first film, this sequel is too dull of an endeavor. In the first film the relationship and banter between Sandler and Aniston felt fresh and funny against the backdrop of a murder mystery plot. But while the dialogue between them is still the best part about this film, the rest falls pretty much apart. The film appears to know what it is and first half is still kind of ok, up until a van scene which is well done too, but after that this quickly overstays its welcome. The film is short, 90min incl. 10min of credits, but just can't stay interesting within its whodunit formula. The Sandler and Aniston pairing worked well once, but the second time around it's packaged too poorly.

No one would ever accuse the Murder Mystery series of being high art. We all know that its just a way for Sandler and his friends to get paid while on vacation. Yet ... they work for me. The dumb jokes work, the travel-porn works, watching Sandler and Aniston bumble around crime scenes works. Yeah, it becomes a little too ridiculous when Sandman, in his full dad bod, is able to win fist fights against several highly trained mercenarys at once like he's Tyler Rake or something, but whatever. It still works.

7/10ish and I'm here for part 3.
