It looks like Taken mixed with a PSA about child trafficking that I would watch on my company’s list of training videos. I heard at the end of the movie Jim Caviezel actually breaks the forth wall to ask the audience to take action. Like the whole movie seems super cheesy but dares you not to like it because “what you have an issue with child trafficking” much like the video you posted. Like I agree with the point, but damn is it heavy handed.

I'm so going to see it regardless. Just waiting on a UK release date.

I mean this sincerely and without any snark, I could see you liking this movie Algren for its sorta Taken action hero route.

It’s supposedly a decent movie. Don’t know why everyone is assuming it’s bad without seeing it.

Look forward to it. Disturbing that there are so many people (online) against a film that tackles the topic of child trafficking.

We're a box office forum and while there has always been fradulent box office reporting (looking at you Age of Extinction), this has taken it to a whole new level. It's an easy movie to dunk on before you even get to the MAGA/Qanon elements.

It could be an actual great movie but all that other stuff would still be true and thus the mockery.

I see it as mostly a Pavlovian dog response that anything conservative must be bad, and they don't want to admit they support its message for the same reason AOC doesn't debate on right wing shows, it would be "platforming" and giving credibility to right wingers that could draw more people towards Dark Side, they don't want upstanding lib moms reading about Sound of Freedom and child trafficking and then all of a sudden BAM, they're posting cryptic right wing memes on facebook. It's kind of a bad look though that sites like NYT/WaPo/Hr/La Times/etc. are put in a position of boycotting covering the anti-child trafficking movie.

I agree it is a bad look and feeding right into the aforementioned video’s dumbfuckery, especially when the movie is apparently pretty good. I am sure if Disney had a Time Machine they’d have released this straight to Hulu, but I am certain the makers of the movie are pleased as the movie is making tons more money this way, if even semi-fraudulently.

I finally saw it.

The psa at the end encouraging you to scan the QR code and buy another ticket is cringe, but this is a well made and exciting thriller. It feels a little tv, but there’s lots of truly heartbreaking and intense scenes. I was about to scream when Ballard was under the bed.

Not really a political movie at all. The controversy is making it a must see though, so Angel Studios is laughing all the way to the bank.
