Quote:
Crimson Tide is a 1995 submarine film directed by Tony Scott, produced by Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer, and written by Michael Schiffer and Richard P. Henrick. It takes place during a period of political turmoil in the Russian Federation, in which ultranationalists threaten to launch nuclear missiles at the United States and Japan. It focuses on a clash of wills between the seasoned commanding officer (Gene Hackman) and executive officer (Denzel Washington) of a nuclear missile submarine, arising from conflicting interpretations of an order to launch their missiles.

The film was scored by Hans Zimmer, who won a Grammy Award for the main theme, which makes heavy use of synthesizers in place of traditional orchestral instruments.

One of the first movies I ever saw. It was also my favorite movie for a long, long time.

It had GREAT acting, and had an outstanding story.

Still holds up well for me

9.5/10 A

This was awesome. Edge of my seat the entire time, despite the ending being pretty obvious from the start. An all star cast and crew giving their absolute best. I think its my new favorite Denzel movie.

9.8/10

I feel like nobody ever talks about this movie as one of the 90s best. Can't believe it took me this long to see it. And that there is only one other reply in this thread!

Yeah this is sooo good. Havent seen it since I watched it as a teen in 1995 so i'd love to preserve my memories of it

Simpson/Bruckheimer was such a force back then - not to mention Denzel in his prime and Hackman during his career resurgence.
