Unsilenced is a great film. It chronicles the late 90s (and ongoing) suppression of the peaceful Chinese movement known as Falun Gong. Many methods are shown in the film of how the brutal Chinese government create their own narrative through mass media propaganda, deception, and unlawful practices. The cowardly and corrupt nature of the government is highlighted here very well; any movement - peaceful or otherwise - is forbidden in China. The only thing you can support en masse is the Party. They crack down on Buddhism (Tibet), Falun Gong, Uighurs (Xinjiang), and all are peaceful ways of life, then they fabricate incidents to demonise such movements, which fit their narrative. A despicable regime, and Unsilenced does a brilliant job of showing the plight of the Falun Gong practitioner. I'd seen films about the illegal Tibetan invasion, the state-sanctioned Tiananmen Square massacre, but never the Falun Gong suppression, so I was pleased to see this, and it's good too.
