Post Re: The White Tiger
The performances are wonderful but the movie stalls after 2/3 and stumbles very quickly into the destined finale. As is usual in lot of Indian movies there are lots of sub-plots that never gel well together here its the back drop of the village and its killings which serve no purpose. The deceit is handled really well and brings the much needed energy in the movie which starts to become repetitive towards the first half. Adarsh Gourav plays the pauper very well but couldn't do much justice to being rich and righteous, Rajkummar Rao is brilliant self but he is not given much here other than flipping sides every 5 minutes. The only round character is that of Priyanka Chopra and she disappears midway from the movie (possibly because of COVID restrictions?) and the film references her back but never brings her back, having her back in a scene or two would have brought some emotional weight to the movie and its central character. Ramin Bahrani does fine but he is not experience enough to bring tension in some of the scenes needed here, though he handles dark comedy well.

Pretty good film. Not totally unique in plot or the way it's told, but very effective nonetheless. With a realistic grip on the main character's journey it hits high marks and is thoroughly compelling. I don't know how well of an adaptation of the book it is, but the cast and script are excellent.
