Re: A Quiet Place
Algren's point is above is sound, yet I couldn't help but be annoyed by the pregnancy. It is such an obvious (and ultimately unnecessary) way to enhance the suspense. The family surviving would be enough without the too-cute foil of, "And she is going to have a baby in a world where a single noise attracts carnivorous Hell spawns!"

Yet that 'hook' was a huge part of the marketing and I don't think the movie would have done as well without it. Not that this is the box office forum...

Grief sex is a hell of a drug. I guess they could have drank the pain away- but then they’d make a bunch of noise stumbling around and there’s no movie.

Re: A Quiet Place
Excellent horror film, modern classic in the genre. The first half relied on the kids being stupid a bit and some stretches like why didn't they just live by the river/waterfall?, however the 2nd half is superb, I love everything with the aliens. The whole thing with the corn silo was cool too. They did a good job finding ways to make them talk a little to not just make it a silent movie.
I have no problem with them doing it and her getting pregnant, they need some reason to live. However the crying baby was dealt with a little bit easily in my opinion. I was expecting it to be THE problem.
