So, why bother watching it?

I kept telling myself it would get better eventually. But it never did.

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides
I will never be able to connect with this movie. As much as I like Cruz, I don't believe her and Sparrow's love story. I didn't like the fountain scenes and while the action and mystery of story are better here I just find it boring specially because they tried to replace Knightley and Bloom with Mermaid and priest arc...ugh
Blackbeard was not as menacing as well because most of the movie he is away from his ship.
For me this is the worst of the Pirates movie.

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides
I remembered not liking this one very much at all, but also had only one seen it once, on my computer screen at that. Perhaps a 4K remaster might shift the tide of my opinion?
Nope. Still the worst in the series. Bloom and Knightley aren't in part 5 very much, but at least they are part of the story. Here they are badly missed. You can't put the dramatic weight of a story on Jack's whimsical shoulders. And there's just too many extra steps to finding the fountain. Make this an extra fun, melodrama free 105 minute film and it would have worked.
