Lady in the Water was a great movie, though not as good as The Village (Shyamalan's best) and The Sixth Sense.

I think it set the record for most expository dialogue ever and some of the worst character building dialogue.

Sister (I don't know her name) says something like "My brother met the princess and they were quickly friends." Cut to her brother begging the water leader to then be the princess's bodyguard (he had no training in guarding) because he seems to have went from friendship to love in about 35 seconds.

The fire guys main mode of transportation is boats.
The water guys power is over...water.
Boats float in water.
Therefore the movie can go fuck itself.

Never fallen in love before, eh?

You can thank the American creators of the cartoon series' story for their bastardization of Asian culture memes. Personally, I had no trouble buying this - - it just seemed to be a planet with a lot of ocean.

I have never fallen in love with a person within 5 seconds of meeting them. I may have thought they were hot or that I wanted to do other things with them, but not love.

Is it possible that Bradley Witherberry is in fact M. N. Shyamalan?

If or when you end up meeting your one true love, it's astounding in retrospect how quickly the spell is cast.

A friend saw this during a midnight show and was extremely disappointed. He was somewhat familiar with the cartoon going in but in his words described it as "nothing happens" in the movie. It apparently has like 4 big action sequences and was a waste of 12$ for the 3D show. He also pointed out it had a 7% RT at the time but it's now up to 8%. Another friend was interested in seeing it but that turned him off right away.

Guess I'm skipping it 2 now.

I think 'clumsy' is the proper word to qualify this filmish thing.

Honestly, this had THE single worst script my poor ears have ever had to endure. I had heard a lot about how bad the dialogue was prior to seeing it but nothing could have prepared me for this. Just baffling. I loved the quote from a critic on RT "I believe M. Night can ruin the world"... Except I now fear that he can do much worse than that.

The script isn't even the sole source of awful in this movie. Yes, it's very very poorly written. But the delivery of dialogue from the actors as well as the pacing, and framing of the direction is laughable as well. I swear M. Night wanted to make a bad movie while he was directing this.

Exactly. If they don't know how to behave, and feel OK offending others, they get their ass kicked, so they'll think next time before opening their rotten mouths.

5/10 -> C-

Not as disastrous as I've expected it to be. I actually enjoyed bits here and there. It suffers from a uneven directing and horrible dialogue. The acting is bad, but not terrible when compared to other similar movies.

Post Re: The Last Airbender
Awful. I had high hopes when I saw the trailer. I maintained those after the RT rating came out. I was failed.

The dialogue was not only cheesy but pointless. "This is a scroll," Really?

Awful acting, if you can call it that, from Aang, the entire Fire tribe, Waterbender's brother & almost every other minor character combined with overacting by Waterbender & Dev Patel made it almost excruciating to witness. It was saved as a viewing experience by the constant idiotic fact-stating or random quips by various characters, "I thought I killed you,", "I always believed you'd come back Aang," (You didn't even know the legend before granny told you).

Bloody big disappointment. I'll levy blame on Shyamalan and his inability to direct proper action sequences, write a cohesive, logical and relevant storyline and not getting anything out of his actors. So much potential wasted.

This has got to have the worst dialogue since...I don't know when. A very very long time anyway. I couldn't believe the shit I heard.

Visually, it was very very nice, but my ears bled.

I liked Prince of Persia, Sorcerer's Apprentice, Transformers 2, GI Joe etc.

Then again, this was sub-10%...

Also, Expendables now challenges this for worst dialogue in a movie. I might be alone on my last viewpoint.

The Last Airbender is like an agonizing pain that doesn't go away and instead just gets worse. The acting is terrible, the effects are meh, and they can't even do well with editing. It's just chops of film slice together to try and make something worthwhile. As adaptations go this is by far one of the worst and Shyamalan just needs to take a break. No more to say, worst of the year. No Stars

I hadn't noticed this comment earlier - - very interesting.

:-k

I must make note of this development for my forthcoming Dr. Lecter biography.

Shit.

It gets a 2/10 from me, which is the lowest score I've probably ever given. And it only gets a 2 because the score is solid.
