Good movie, although I called the ending ten minutes in. Kevin Spacey is as he usually is: remarkable. Overall, though, the theme is a bit to blatant and the whole movie felt like ti could have been better. I don't even know why. B

I'm a militant opponent of the death penalty, but even I found some of the film's implications to be a bit silly. It also elicited a crappy performance from Kate Winslet, which I think is quite a feat. Predictable ending, too.
I liked the film, though, honestly. Thought it was pretty tense and, besides Kate Winslet, pretty well-acted.

You thought Kate Winslet was bad? Why?

I agree, why? I am personally a big fan of Kevin Spacey, but even I tought that Winslet delivered the best performance in this movie.

This movie approaches a difficult subject and handles it quite well for what it is. Certainly, it can't overcome some dilemmas and some parts of the death penalty discussion remain untouched, but it is still a good thriller/drama. Acting is good all-around. Being a big Kevin Spacey fan, I was surprised to find myself being more amazed by Kate Winslet's performance than his in this movie. Winslet deserved an Oscar nomination for this one, in my opinion. The ending was partially predictable in my opinion, not entirely, though. At times the movie is way too blatant about its intentions and I don't like that. Something needs to remain more subtle at times. Overall, a neat flick, though.

Quite an interesting subject matter to make a movie on, but it's done brilliantly, IMO.
Though the ending was quite obvious, I was surprisingly engaged throughout the long running time of this film. Never a moment looking away from the screen. Fine performances from Kate Winslett and one of my growing favorites, Kevin Spacey. I loved it a lot more than I thought I would.

Saw it when it came out on DVD. I don't remember hating it, but then again... I don't remember anything about it.

I enjoyed the film, despite it's predictable ending. Kate Winslet and Kevin Spacey were both outstanding. Laura Linney was strong in her supporting role as well.

Re: The Life of David Gale
I'm glad most here enjoy the movie. I remember seeing it when it first came out on VHS and absolutely loved it (though I was only 12 or so at the time). I bought the DVD years later but never watched it because I thought maybe my opinion would have changed (it was only $5 so I figured what the hell?). I watched it about eight or so months ago and I still found it to be a very good film. It's interesting and intense and the acting is great across the board. Very underrated.
8/10
