It's head and shoulders above its sequels not only because because this SFX style was visionary and groundbreaking, but because its story was composed of one of the best sci-fi plots of all-time. Audiences really had never seen anything like this before. And the sequels don't damage its grade, because frankly, it would have been fine without them in the first place. Everything we wanted to know we discovered in the first film, we all knew he was destined to save the human race anyways, they didn't call him 'the one' just for shits!

Never gets old. A+

Aaaahhhh... someone willing to tell the truth! The Matrix is boring.

The emperor, while he isn't naked, is wearing precious little...

Despite having a freakin' tremendous story and innovative action and effects, them damn Wachowski's are hit&miss directors. This coulda been a full 30 minutes shorter and been a far better film.

Revolutions remains the best of the series.

4 out of 5.

I too found it very boring when I first watched it. But hell, I was like 11 or 12. I ended up renting it a few years later, and really enjoyed it.

Yesterday was the 10-year anniversary of its release. Kinda weird it's been that long. I still remember seeing the TV spots and thinking it looked like the coolest, most awesome thing ever. Alas, I was only 9 years old and had to wait to see it.

Still, totally badass after all these years. The stretch from the lobby shootout to the showdown in the subway station is like...gaaaaah.

I rewatched this for just the third time a week ago. The final scene nicely wraps it up.

But you could say that about 99% of all films released in 1999 :disgust:

It's true, this movie was incredible at the time and has aged well.

Amazing to see this again after so many years. I have never watched this on TV mostly just on laptops before this and after catching it on my TV (49") this time I had the urge to see this on the biggest screen. It takes sometime to get going and some of the dialogues are too cringy but once we get to know the Matrix the movie transforms into edge of your seat thriller. Keanu Reeves was very well cast in here but Fishburne runs away with this. One of the all time best sci-fi thrillers.

I'd seen part of this before, but the trailer yesterday inspired me to finish it. Definitely an interesting and well made film, that's clearly influenced many films since. However, it was incredibly confusing and I didn't find the character development very good. Seems like it would be better on rewatch
