My Best Friend's Wedding
My Best Friend's WeddingQuote: My Best Friend's Wedding is a 1997 romantic comedy film directed by P. J. Hogan. It stars Julia Roberts, Cameron Diaz, Dermot Mulroney, Rupert Everett, and Philip Bosco.
The film received mostly positive reviews from critics. Commercially, it was one of the top 8 highest grossing films worldwide in 1997.
The soundtrack song "I Say a Little Prayer (For You)" was covered by singer Diana King and featured heavily in the film, making it a Billboard Top 20 hit. The soundtrack featured a number of Burt Bacharach/Hal David songs. I hadn't seen this movie in a while, but I was watching it on television and remembering why it was one of my favorite romcoms. Everything about the film is great, from Julia Roberts' finely-tuned cynicalness to Cameron Diaz's lively good nature. The real scene-stealer is Rupert Everett, who I feel should've gotten an Oscar nomination for this performance. The scene in the restaurant with the impromptu singalong to "I Say A Little Prayer" is one of the most magical scenes ever captured on celluloid, I think. A

I was forced to go see it, despite my hate for Julia Roberts, which was at it's peak at the time. I liked everything about it except that damn song that opens it, and I even own it (on VHS) because I bought it as soon as it was available, which tells you how much I liked it without grading it.
Cameron Diaz has a lovely singing voice. :^o

I'm watching this on TBS right now. Great movie, and easily one of my favorite romantic comedies. Julia Roberts is excellent, Cameron Diaz is adorable, and Rupert Everett steals every scene he is in. This has excellent rewatch value as well.

An excellent romcom, and I don't particularly enjoy many of them. Julia and Cameron are both excellent, but Rupert Everett steals the movie.

Just watched this today for the first time since it hit VHS. Really enjoyable movie. Roberts was great and Rupert Everett stole his scenes. Love the ending. Enjoyed it more than I did back when it was first released.

Rewatching this again. This is easily one of the best romantic comedies ever. Everything about it just works.

Nice enough movie but not that funny other than Rupert Everett. The story was cliche.
