Skyfall
SkyfallQuote: Skyfall (2012) is the twenty-third spy film in the James Bond series, produced by Eon Productions and distributed by MGM and Sony Pictures Entertainment. It features Daniel Craig's third performance as James Bond, and Javier Bardem as Raoul Silva, the film's antagonist. The film was directed by Sam Mendes and written by John Logan, Neal Purvis and Robert Wade.
Mendes was approached to direct the film after the release of Quantum of Solace in 2008. Development was suspended when MGM encountered financial troubles, and did not resume until December 2010; during this time, Mendes remained attached to the project as a consultant. The original screenwriter, Peter Morgan, left the project during the suspension. When production resumed, Logan, Purvis and Wade continued writing what became the final version of the script, whilst incorporating Morgan's ideas. Filming began in November 2011, and primarily took place in the United Kingdom, China and Turkey.
Skyfall premiered on 23 October 2012, and was released in the United Kingdom on 26 October 2012, and in the United States on 9 November 2012. It was the first James Bond film to be screened in IMAX venues, although it was not filmed with IMAX cameras. The film's release coincided with the 50th anniversary of the James Bond series, which began with Dr. No in 1962. The film was positively received by critics and at the box office. AI would compare it to On Her Majesty's Secret Service and Casino Royale. Make of that what you will.

Re: Skyfall
Is there any good reason why the gunbarrel is at the end?

Re: Skyfall
I was kidding!
I'm not sure why it's here at the end. I imagine if it wasn't used at all in Quantum of Solace, its placement here would make more sense.

The ending sounds cray! Can certainly see the Nolan vibe.

Re: Skyfall
It's my new favorite movie of the year and might even be a notch better than Casino Royale (which I loved as well). Also, without any doubt, the best Bond I've ever seen.

Yeah. It has that same feeling as Casino Royale's ending -- 'James Bond Will Return.' "Goddammit, come back now."

Re: Skyfall
The problem I see now is that it is a terrific film, it sets up everything perfectly for the rest of the franchise...but where does it go from now? There is no way to really top this, not in this James Bond universe. It gets absolutely everything right. From the villain over the action al the way to the perfect ending. Everything. It'll suffer from the TDK-syndrome, meaning that it'll be insanely hard for the follow-up not to disappoint.

Re: Skyfall
@ The Dark Shape (and others who have seen it) How awesome would it have been, if Sean Connery had played the part of Albert Finney?

Oh and Javier Bardem and Judi Dench both deserve Oscar noms for their performances.

They must have known, though, that having refused Indy, it was extremely unlikely he'd return for anything. I firmly believe, though, that if he had played the part, some people in the audience would have creamed their pants right on spot. I mean: !!!!!

Re: Skyfall
Shape and Lec I agree. It's so obvious the role was written for that.
Otherwise. This was superb. it mixed the best of royale and regular bond.
Naomi Harris was awesome.

I actually didn't think that but immediately after watching the movie I did think: "Oh fuck it would be cool if for once a Bond actor would return as a villain." My mind has probably been too much focused on how awesome Skyfall is to connect the dots completely.

Re: Skyfall
After all the good review I've read, my expectations got enormous but Skyfall met them. This is an amazing movie. It never drags despite the length, the action is really good and involving (it's nice too see what's going on during a fight), it's funny and the showdown is just perfect. Definately going to see this again on the big screen. Only complaint I can think of now is that I wanted more Bardem. A

Re: Skyfall
other than 1 or 2 funny scenes with bardem, i thought this was rather boring. so does M or Q or whatever her name was stay dead at the end or does she come back? i had to leave after her big death scene in order to catch my train.
