Rewatched it again the other day. It's just one of those great movies overall. It has such a meaty story well developed and well executed story, characters are incredibly well acted and so intriguing. Despite having a huge main cast there's literally not one one-dimensional character. It's an amazing feat. Cinematography, directing, music - all perfect notch!

When I clicked on this thread, I was thinking "If _axiom gives it anything less than an A, I'm gonna hunt this motherfucker down"...

Bad short term memory?

I only use it for things that matter.

I just rewatched it and it is indeed a very good film. It is convincingly set in the 1950s, and it's also continuously moving. Its pulse is what makes the film, as well as brilliant performances from Crowe, Pearce, and Spacey. It's not as good as Cop Land, but throughout my mind kept making comparisons. I guess the police corruption, the ensemble, and that it also came out in 1997 made me latch onto putting them in the same basket. Anyway, both great films, and interestingly it all came back to me when I started watching it.
