You must have LOW standards. No offense. Who's that directed at? I think Shack. Should be directed at me too, on second viewing I absolutely agree with Shack. Honestly the only action movies I feel I could safely say are better are Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Fellowship of the Ring, with Terminator 2 being on par.
I agree fully.
It was fantastic.

I guess I'm against the majority here but I absolutley hated this movie with a passion. Granted I have only seen the Bronsan Bond movies, but this one was nowhere even near those. I have to say this was so boring, I literally almost fell asleep (The only time I ever fell asleep was in Solaris and this felt close to that). Seriously, there was like two action scenes in the whole movie and the rest was happy music/scenery. The worst part for me was that I had such high expectations going in. I thought this was going to be a thrill-a-minute action packed Bond like all of the previous one's. Boy was I wrong.
Then the ending without an ending. It just ended without anything resolved not that there was anything there to begin with. I'm sorry if this review is a bit all over the place but I loved the previous Bond movies so much, and to get this POS just really pisses me off. I pray to got they remember for the next one that these are action movies.

I agree with several of your assertions. Critics are finally happy that Bond has been destroyed to an extent with bullshit "realism". If I wanted a realistic spy movie, I would choose the infinitely superior Bourne movies over this sleep inducing affair. The last half hour involving the "love story" is bad enough to induce vomitting.
The more I think about it, the more I despise this bullshit movie.

Damn those Bond writers for not including the invisible car and the surfing! Damn them to hell!
By the way, I don't find the Bourne movies and Casino Royale to be similar at ALL. Bond kicks Bourne's ass, the latter are half-rate shaky cam films, with political conspiracy plots... Bond is much much cooler and slicker.

It became clear that Casino Royale wasn't going for Bourne-level realism the moment he crashed through the building with a huge construction vehicle. There's a fine line between a movie trying to be believable and a movie going for total realism, and Casino Royale was very clearly the former.
So wait, what wasn't resolved? And since when have all the other Bond movies been thrill-a-minute. Royale moved at a faster pace then any Bond movie before the late 80s.

Once the hype-nosis wears off and viewers begin to fall asleep to this as it spins in their DVD players, I'm certain people will see the light and demand a real Bond movie next time...

...and for a hint about how low this franchise may sink, how about these spoilers from the MI6 fansite:
[spoil]For many years, any woman who tangled with James Bond either died a grisly death or was forgotten as soon as the British superspy received orders for his next mission - reports The Australian.
But the era of the Bond girl as a one-night stand will end on November 14, when Vesper Lynd, played by Eva Green, makes the first of two appearances in the film series.
Eon Productions, which owns the Bond film franchise, has suggested that Green's character will return in Casino Royale's sequel, which has the temporary title of Bond 22. It's the first time in recent history that one of the spy's love interests has featured in more than one film.
Green, who co-starred with Orlando Bloom in Kingdom of Heaven, is expected to appear as a pre-recorded video message transmitted over the internet.
Barbara Broccoli, the daughter of Albert "Cubby" Broccoli and co-producer of the Bond series since Goldeneye, has said Bond 22 will continue where Casino Royale left off. "We're already thinking about the sequel," she said. "We're in the early stages. It is an original story, but it's going to continue part of what the story is in this film."
Vesper Lynd's survival in Bond's affections is an admission that Bond girls are more than just disposable eye candy. Despite a trend for stronger female characters in the past four films, only one other love interest has appeared twice. Sylvia Trench, who meets Bond in Dr No, is shown having a picnic with the spy at the beginning of From Russia With Love, but she is immediately abandoned and never seen again.
[/spoil]
They're gonna turn Bond into a soap star yet -- Cubby Broccoli must be spinning in his grave...

Fuck this! No Bond girl should appear twice, even it's only briefly.
And where are the Ice Palaces? I don't see any fucking Ice Palaces. Where are the fucking Ice Palaces? At least give me a jetpack, an underwater car, or an invisible car, something. Come on!

See?? That's what I love though.. CASINO ROYALE was a good movie, but just a little too long on the running time and Craig just didn't have "It".. I'll stick to MOONRAKER or FOR YOUR EYE'S ONLY with Roger Moore, BOND at his BEST..

1. This was the best Bond film I have EVER seen.
2. Daniel Craig is one of the best, if not the best, Bond I have ever seen.
3. The story was VERY interesting and VERY intriguing.
4. Despite being long, it was VERY fun throughout.
5. It has, by far, the greatest torture scene I have ever seen.

Finally saw it. Wow what a great movie.
I forgot about Brosnan about 30 seconds into the film. He may be the epitome of what James Bond would look like, but Daniel Craig played him the best since Connery and strong scripts are the difference that always halted Brosnan after Goldeneye. Craig was flawed but still a someone that you knew was invincible. He was just great. He was actually funny too and not the embarassment that Moore turned the series into.
I love that people are calling slow. Its action packed and suspenseful. These must be the same jokers that think Aliens is boring til its last 30 minutes. two action scenes. Thats laughable. And as long as this film was, the end made me want to see more so much. I think Craig being as young and as popular as he is will be around for some time.
My only complaint, I thought the theme song was great, but they could have had the 007 theme a little more I thought rather than just the end. And one other, I thought Eva Green was a very boring Bond girl. she acted well, but something about her made me just say, fall in love, be hurt and lets move on.
But for me big big A. I'll welcome Craig for much more.

I saw the film again today. It works even better a second time, especially the ending.
Oh and just to confirm, I was wrong about the dancing ladies. There aren't any during the credit sequence. Still, I think that credit sequence is by far the best since A View to a Kill.

They could've trimmed about 15 minutes off of this movie.. There were some times when it did drag a little.. Overall it was good though and Craig was at least better than Dalton..

We got your mediocre joke the first time.
BKB I agree, I really dont find a problem with the pacing though like the shower scene (It never really went anywhere after that) and maybe shorten the recovery/ love blossum scene. Other than that, I thought the pacing was perfect and the action scenes were evenly placed.
As far as bonds go, Its too early to say he's better than Connery, but he's way above the rest.
Bonds.
1. Connery
2. Craig
3. Brosnan- The definitive look of Bond but shoddy scripts really hurt his movies
4. Dalton- Underrated, at least added something to the character
5. Moore- Apart from 2 installments, he was a jokester and just too fluffy. Paper thin
6. Lazenby- Need a say more.

I dont get that joke, but all right. Nothing against you, but Im really not a fan of jokes that keep getting pushed when there isnt even a reaction the first time.

One thing I don't get is, why is everyone is hating on the theme song? I haven't even seen the film, but the song for Casino Royale is the best bond song I've ever heard (key word: heard - I haven't heard them all), and at the very least infinitely better than the crap we got for Die Another Day.
I keep listening to it. I think it's great.
PEACE, Mik.

I agree, I thought the song was great and the way were able to fit it in most of the film was very well done. The only songs I think I liked more were Live and Let Die and maybe one or two more.
