You haven't figured out that his Internet persona isn't anything like his true personality?

No one tricked me. I think I have seen it several times, though mostly while doing things on the computer.

The ensemble all improving and having fun is what makes this film enjoyable. As far as end of the world films, it's thrilling, great effects, and is full of a lot of epic shots that have been used before, and new stuff has since been copied. It is nothing more nothing less than to just entertain you for 2 hours. The last time Bay was at least held by the reigns a little.

Almost everything that sucks about Michael Bay rolled up into a messy 151-minute package. The characters are neither believable nor likable, the story is stupid to the point of being insulting, very little of the humor clicks, and the action is incomprehensible thanks to the fact that there's an edit every 1.5 seconds (not hyperbole, per the IMDB trivia page). The main saving grace is Steve Buscemi, who is the only person in the cast who seems to see how dumb the whole thing is, says "screw it," and delivers a twistedly amusing performance. I enjoy the hell out of Michael Bay's movies when he gets the balance of action, loud noises, and crude humor right; this was not one such case.

D+

As for the things about Michael Bay's films that don't suck that aren't on display here: see Bad Boys II.

Okay, I'll definitely give ya those. If they had been the leads, the movie at least would have been more interesting. But alas, the leads were Bruce Willis on autopilot and pre-director days Ben Affleck.

I used to like it when I was a teenager, but for whatever reason, it didn't hold up at all when I watched it last summer.

Watched this again today. Great music and extremely entertaining but my god, Affleck...every line man, every fucking line. Horrible.

I didn't like this when I was a teenager. It was one of those movies that was just ok. I much preferred stuff like The Mask of Zorro, Blade, U.S. Marshals, and Ronin. Those were great years.

Then I saw it on TV a ton of times and it's quite good actually. But still no more than a B+.

I watched this again yesterday, it's always been one of my favorites and it surely solidified that again. I love everything about this, Bay was without a doubt one of the masters of cinema at the time, he just got in too deep with Transformers, but damn he made some great films before, with this one leading the way. This has got such a great and fine cast, everyone is right where and who they need to be, Buscemi is such a gem in it. The special effects and explosions feel real and the whole space trip is just so calamitous and just eking out the success it's amazing. I adore this from start to finish.

A+
