 Re: Jurassic World Rebirth
I thought it was a fun adventure on dinosaur island. It moves at a nicely brisk page, there's plenty of dinosaurs and dinosaur action, the main cast does well enough in their roles, and the direction/score/FX/tech aspects are all done well. If someone has enjoyed the franchise up to now, or even has a casual interest in dinosaur hijinks, then I would think they'd like this one as well.
And I liked that references to franchise lore were kept to a minimum. They were certainly there (some more obvious than others), but it was a nice change of page after Dominion to not have a callback every two minutes.
After skimming some negative reviews, I find a lot of them to be overly harsh. This isn't the "worst" of anything, at all, and I would consider a professional critic saying things like that about Jurassic World: Rebirth to be less than genuine. I could certainly understand why some might not like it for this or that reason, but there's just no way this is the "worst" of the seven installments.

 Re: Jurassic World Rebirth
Huge improvement over the last two Jurassic World films. I would rank this third best behind the OG Jurassic Park and Jurassic World.
Definitely had more of a fear factor going for it. The river scene with the T-Rex was my favorite scene.
Great dumb summer Dino movie.

This was fine. The characters were fairly unlikable but there were some decent moments, the river scene with the T-Rex being the clear highlight. It goes on way too long though and I was eager for it to wrap up by the end. B-

 Re: Jurassic World Rebirth
The three main dinosaur sequences in the middle are all great. The mososaur chase was probably my favorite, but trex on the river and the pterosaur climbing up the cliff after the one guy were thrilling too. This movie does a good job of dinosaurs doing dinosaury things.
Yet ... it's also trying to have its cake and chomp it too. The approach to the movie seems to be simple enough during the good parts - we're making people love dinosaurs again by making them scary again. They take a more slow and serious approach to the story as opposed to the very silly Jurassic World films. But then there's also the leftover sentiment of "kids don't like T-rexes anymore so we have to give them some weird mutants" which is complete bullshit. Kids (and most adults) will never get tired of dinosaurs. In reality the reason is "kids already have trex toys so we need to give them something new to buy." Which worked once, the Indominus was a great villain, but the D-Rex and flying raptors of this movie are both lame and thus the entire finale is boring. I didn't care about the characters enough to not check out once I realized we were done with the good dinosaurs. ScarJo is lovely, as always (maybe even making a late era challenge to reclaim her Hottest Woman Alive Championship belt from Sydney Sweeney?) but her character arc is ... what? She cares about innocent people and money equally. There should be a huge choice involved there, but the scheming billionaire dies before she has to make it. And despite the intention of moving on and making a different type of film, we still have to find some random children to continuously put in danger / remake scenes from the first Jurassic Park. Member the kitchen scene? Member????
So yeah, Rebirth could have been something and had the right stuff in place to do it. But they just didn't for ... reasons. Objectively it's a better film than Fallen Kingdom or Dominion (or 3) but it's also more frustrating cause it could have been more and chose not to be. I'll give it a 5/10.
