 Re: Bottoms
At the beginning I kinda felt like the movie wasn't clicking for me but by the end I enjoyed it. Absurd but entertaining. I think it was missing something that kept it from being great. Kinda felt the relationship with the main leads didn't feel strong for some reason.

 Re: Bottoms
I didn't think it was as uproarious as some of the reviews claim it to be but it was very entertaining and funny. Both of the leads were great and the callbacks to other high school movies that came before this one were fun. B+

 Re: Bottoms
This movie thinks it very clever and unique and has important things to say about feminism. But its really just basic af. So rather than be a high school movie, it is more like a high school student. If that was the point then I apologize for missing it, but I don't think it was. Pretty sure I was supposed to be rooting for these annoying people and thinking to myself "this is just like American Pie but So Much Smarter."

 Re: Bottoms
It's a spoof. It took me a little too long to realize this when I was watching it last year (look at the jocks, it's not exactly subtle), but when it clicked, it clicked. This is trying to be a "high school movie" as much as The Naked Gun is trying to be a serious police procedural. I will say though that both scenes where the two of them profess their love to their crushes are played ultra sincerely, well acted, but I can’t really argue against them being tonal whiplashes.
Funniest movie of last year, though last year was a good but not great year for comedies.
