The movie is shit, but Marvel shit still smells better than any other kind. Its not gonna persuade or disuade anyone who just wants to just have a good time at the movies (though I'd rather they spend their money on Heart Eyes or The Monkey.)

80m wouldn’t be bad.

So, it's like baby shit as opposed to a middle-aged trucker's shit?

IT would be ok if it didn't seem likely to do sub 2.3x multiple.

Deadline is saying 39m Friday and 83m OW. I think OW can go higher than that. Sunday drop will be softer than normal weekend.
Paddington - 4.5m friday including 600K in previews and 12-13m 3 day and 15m+ till Monday.
Ne Zha 2 - 3.2m till friday and 5.9m over 3 days and 6.5m till Monday. I think its comfortably doing more than that.
Dogman - 2.7/10/13
Heart eyes - 3/7/8

Hopefully Heart Eyes doesn't drop too harshly after today. That's a great hold.

Good holds for Dog Man and Heart Eyes.

Heart Eyes looks to outgross Companion which has been disappointing.

Dog Man $36M OW, first Friday drop of 69.9% to a second weekend drop of 16.9%.

At least it will likely get to $100M+ but a strange run so far for the first 15 days.

Glad Heart Eyes is having a strong hold to make up for its soft opening. Great movie.

It’s interesting to me that recent MCU films have gotten weaker cinema scores and legs than notoriously Hated superhero films like The Amazing Spider Man 2, X-Men the Last Stand, Thor: The Dark World, Spider Man 3 etc

B-CinemaScore is the worst CinemaScore in the whole MCU?

I’m amazed that MCU films keep getting gradually worse reception.

Unless it drops like a rock today, should do 80m 3 day

OW should be good. 90m 3 day and low 100s for 4 day. But it will drop like a rock post OW. I am thinking 190m ish finish and overseas is looking terrible. Sub 400m WW.

It’s absolutely astonishing to me this is getting really poor WOM. I could understand not liking it but thinking it’s terrible is ridiculous. Seems to me that the only way Marvel films can get good reception nowadays is if they’re completely separate from the main Avengers storyline (Guardians 3, Deadpool 3 and Spider Man NWH)

It doesn’t even have that Marvel humor people found cringe in Ant Man 3 and Thor 4. They just can’t win.

For this reason I think Thunderbolts is toast with critics and audiences but Fantastic Four has a chance at good reception

why do we need Mackie as the "new Cap". Rogers got the super soldier serum during WW2 and that project got stalled when the scientist was murdered and they could not create any more super soldiers. Since they cannot win the war with one, they marketed him as "Captain America" to sell war bonds.

Why in 2020s a hero has to be called "Captain America" is the big question. That too one whose powers resemble Iron Man than Cap. Its like having Wonder Woman prance around in a bikini of American flag like it was in comics. You need to move on with the times.

They "tried" to recreate the formula of Winter Soldier and miserably failed(Did anyone ask for follow up to the incredible hulk or continue on Celestials story line in a grounded story !!!). Should have stuck with this story line in season 2 of Disney + tv series.

$4.9M Valentines Day for Heart Eyes! Even if it drops harshly today it might still increase over opening weekend.

This all feels like nitpicks to me and just us saying the film shouldn’t exist, moreso than actually saying why it’s so bad

This.

It is like the Avengers “everything is connected” MCUis now BO poison and audiences want a return to the pre-MCU era or at least more standalone films.

As far as general auds go - the MCU saga was done with Endgame - the culmination of a decade long investment. You cant top it with a poorly planned multiverse storyline.

With a supposed $300M budget after reshoots, that would be another catastrophic bomb for Marvel.

You think they’re fudging that 180m budget?

The film honestly doesn’t have that much CGI in it besides the obvious backgrounds inserted into the fight scenes shot on green screen. It’s not like the space set ones where entire environments are created with cgi

the fact that they tried to make a grounded political thriller and failed big time. Plus the marketing focused heavily on Red hulk and he barely appears in the movie. So it was kind of bait and switch that resulted in worst cinemascore and Postrak scores for any MCU movie.

Heart Eyes raked in an estimated $3 million on Saturday, reflecting a 39% drop. Not too shabby, especially since it was a top pick for Valentine's Day dates yesterday! The second weekend is projected to bring in over $10 million, with a very nice 20% increase. I love to see it—the movie is such a blast! It's a bummer that The Monkey opens next weekend, though, as this weekend's holidays combined with a new horror release are likely to hit its numbers hard. If it manages to surpass $30 million domestically, I think that's pretty impressive! I'm hoping it can make enough for a sequel.

I mean I thought building up the Red Hulk added tension and gave us something to look forward to. But it’s just a matter of opinion I guess.
