This is what the Venom movies should be opening at instead of the bizarre 90m. It may have a good next few weeks. |

Unsurprisingly solid, Should be fine for 63-70 with that, could keep the momentum up and take advantage |

Deadline is saying 21m with previews and low 50s OW. That is Awful but I feel previews were overestimated and so they are correcting for that with friday number. https://deadline.com/2024/10/box-office ... 236158112/ Smile 2 - 3.2/10.8m Wild Robot - 1.7m/6m Terrifier 3 - 1.7m/5.5m Conclave - 2.1m/5.3 We live in time - 1.5/4.2 |

Apparently doing very well in CN so should still be a good global weekend story. |

Charlie is saying 13.5m for just friday. I am expecting previews actual to be lower than what was estimated today(that is just for headlines) and so OD should be < 22m. Depending on how saturday goes it could just miss 50m. |

I think Venom release date is the biggest issue here. This is essentially Halloween weekend for events since its mid week. Add in all of the sports events too with likely a highly watched World Series pulling audiences away from the two biggest movie centers. But at least it isn't a Joker type situation. |

The next couple of weeks should be decent for it. |

O wrote: Apparently doing very well in CN so should still be a good global weekend story. That makes sense. To be frank, Chinese audiences like crap. Its RT score is 37%. |

This will probably be a pretty bad dropoff from the others in the end. A lot of 2025 comic book movies are screwed. |

This opening probably leads to about 125m domestic which is meh but not terrible in the scheme of comic book movies. Still think Captain America and Thunderbolts won’t do bad but not enough to justify likely HUGE budgets |

zwackerm wrote: Still think Captain America and Thunderbolts won’t do bad but not enough to justify likely HUGE budgets Yeah but the bar for comic-book success is now so much lower. If those do over $100m they'll be considered acceptable hits (barring any budget talk), and if they do over $150m they'll be considered amazing. That's how far the genre has fallen. |

Captain America should still easily do north of 200’imo. Unless it’s really badly received like Thor or Ant Man. Thunderbolts though definitely could do 150 or less. |

Joker spent 9 weeks in the top 10 (Thanksgiving 2019) while Joker 2 couldn't make it to 4 and is leaving before Halloween. ![]() At least it passed $200M worldwide though it looks to miss $60M domestic. ![]() ![]() Venom is definitely feeling like the Aquaman 2 this year. Marvels did so spectacularly bad last year that Aquaman 2's underperformance got a pass. I feel like Venom with a $120M budget (vs Joker 2's $200M) and a $175M global launch and 80%+ global retention of the last film's gross has saved it. Nearly 19M people at peak watched the LA/NYC World Series game and adding in other sports and most importantly Halloween parties this weekend, the release date probably cost this at least a $60 ish M OW. Conclave is the winner of the weekend though. That's a good solid OW. Beetlejuice 2 also is holding but hoping for a big Halloween week boost to push it past $300M though its still a cointoss. Though who had Beetlejuice making more than Venom 3 and Joker 2's total grosses COMBINED with another $100M+ to spare?! ![]() |

81, 69, and 72. No, those are not the minutes of Haaland's latest hat-trick. Those are Joker 2's first three weekend drops. ![]() It hasn't yet dropped under 69%. Astonishing. |

Tuesday #'s Venom: The Last Dance $4,660,000 +53% $58,728,107 Beetlejuice Beetlejuice $355,000 -28% $289,233,012 I think that's solid for Venom given such a smaller OW from the first two films. Venom 2 did $6,276,769 following a $90M OW. First Venom had a holiday on first Monday so likely Tues spillover with a $8,228,610 Tuesday and Wednesday of $4,731,282. OW was -43% from Venom 2 but its non-holiday Tues is -26%. The Sunday/Tuesday daily ratio is also almost the same as Venom 1 at 38%. With the lack of competition for a few weeks feels like Venom 3 will hold better than #2 from these first two dailies. Also a subdued OW from sports + Halloween activities. Hoping Beetlejuice gets a big push this week with Halloween but looks like it could get to $296M-297M otherwise. |
