 Twisters - $250M+ Club (SUCCESS!!!)
Big risk close to proximity of D&W but Twisters apparently is tracking great with men under 35 and women over 35 and nostalgia could help as well as a PG13 and a hot summer. Thinking it can pull off a breakout particularly leg wise in the heartland to be an event picture.

 Re: Twisters - $250M+ Club
I don't think so, even if it opens to 60m it's not going to make it to 250 barring it being amazing

 Re: Twisters - $250M+ Club
Unlikely. Presales so far sucks and it has terrible release date. 150m would be a stretch.

 Re: Twisters - $250M+ Club
Good club. I'm out but would be funny if it happens.
$200m budget for this is insane. Very interested in how this does.

 Re: Twisters - $250M+ Club
I think $150-$200m is the target here. I mean legs could kick in and get it higher but the OW doesnt look to be big enough.

 Re: Twisters - $250M+ Club
Hmm possibly. Lets say $80M opening weekend, over $100M by the time Deadpool is out, huge drop in weekend 2 before a mostly dead August?

 Re: Twisters - $250M+ Club
81% from 30 reviews so far. Seems like it's getting really strong positive reactions. Could play as a romantic film, and one reviewer saying the best time at the movies for them since TGM.
Feeling this breakout is still possible. I'm not expecting it out of the gate but feel like it will be able to survive under D&W and leg it out over the rest of the summer.

 Re: Twisters - $250M+ Club
$50-70m OW + good legs = hefty gross.
It opened here yesterday, and I must say can't feel any hype but we'll see.

 Re: Twisters - $250M+ Club
I would say 300+. I think it will be very leggy after the Deadpool hit it takes in its second weekend.

 Re: Twisters - $250M+ Club
I've checked some Friday night showings of Twisters and the aren't very full. It is its second night but still not great. Perhaps walkups will be better and it will play better stateside.

 Re: Twisters - $250M+ Club
Well - unplanned but we couldn't get tickets to DM4 tonight so we went to see Twisters! Glad we did because i thought it was fantastic. Its a blockbuster done right - a throwback yet stands up to the biggies released today. A joy ride but has heart. Two great leads (yes Powell is awesome) and this is a crowd pleaser.
90% full in a large auditorium.
I hope it catches on for a big OW because the legs should be good after the initial DPW hit.

This needed to open summer instead of fall guy.

 Re: Twisters - $250M+ Club
If Empire's $31M+ min Friday is correct this is off to a tremendous start!
Twisters officially feels like an heir apparent for TGM. Completely tuned up a 25+ year old franchise and made it a must see event for moviegoers today.

 Re: Twisters - $250M+ Club
I thought this and the Gladiator thread were both down in flames but it looks like this will actually succeed... we'll see about the latter. Magic Mike also always kept the faith for Twisters.

I don’t think it will quite reach 300m, but $250 shouldn’t be too hard.

 Re: Twisters - $250M+ Club
$1M less Friday but $1M better Saturday than Oppenheimer. Cross demo film big in the heartland and split among demos evenly. Reaching young people and older, nostalgia, well rated, emerging star in Powell, the non-R rated tentpole, and strong weekend dailies so far with strong WOM.
Needs a 3.11X multiplier to get to $250M+. Looking very doable!
