TSwift weekend thread
$2.8m previews...
Lol the last minute decision was a bad idea. It got me though! Curious to see if it can get to $100m+ for the weekend...

Re: TSwift weekend thread
Not very strong but that $2.8M could be the difference between $100M and no $100M. Come on Taylor, don't make October wait a whole 'nother year (or possibly longer with the strikes continuing) for its first nine digiter!!

Re: TSwift weekend thread
I am skeptical it will hit 100m. Probably around 90m. it has almost non existent walkups.

Re: TSwift weekend thread
Yeah presales were obviously big since most megafans bought tickets upfront, hence the small previews.
Deadline is saying 40-50m Friday... hm

Re: TSwift weekend thread
I dont think the previews matter considering the circumstances.
My initial prediction was 98m in the monthly game but wish i stuck with that and not get swayed by the KJ collective haha
Though projections are between $100 to $130m and its early.

Re: TSwift weekend thread
Getting October OW record would be a win. If its as frontloaded as I'm expecting thinking it may just miss but we'll see. Weekend #s should be good.

Re: TSwift weekend thread
RTH is saying 43-44m as well. That means it did have some walkups today. Tomorrow it has way more shows. I wonder if families will come in tomorrow. That means it may not even drop.

Re: TSwift weekend thread
Charlie is seeing a lower number. He thinks its not hitting 40m. So we have to wait until tomorrow to get more accurate friday number. there is a big difference between say 39 and 44.

Re: TSwift weekend thread
The weak preview number shows that interest outside of her fanbase (who already bought tickets weeks ago) will not be strong.
This might be a $100m OW/$180m total type run.

Once getting past the inflated expectations 39 mil opening day for a concert film is still really good

It's a bomb!!
Jk, but I'm no longer expecting a $100M opening from FNAF or only $50M from The Marvels. Presales are misleading!

Re: TSwift weekend thread
Funny, I was thinking of posting in the last couple weeks that even if “only” does something like $80m OW / $120m total, it’s still massive and a huge success.
I saw The Creator last night, and it was cute seeing the mostly young female crowds hyped to see Taylor.

Eras was extreme case where early presales was like 90% of overall number in many markets. I dont think that translates to MCU which is among the most predictable franchises when it comes to presales and OW. Freddys is a different beast. Its not early sales alone but its almost trending like Barbie but not that good. I dont believe in 100m as well as ATP is very low as it did not have any PLF early on. Now it has some but its not dominated by them. Only way it is hitting 100m is if it finishes like Barbie which is not easy at all. That said I definitely think 70m OW is happening.

The film didn’t even exist 3 months ago and could have just as easily been an HBO special. While unfortunately it’s the same year as barbenheimer, this has to be one of the most impressive years, we had the former mentioned but exciting unexpected surprises like Sound of Freedom and now Swift.

$97m estimate. Hope it holds!

Also Exorcist not dropping over 60% is a surprise It had Friday the 13th so basically 2 saturdays to help, it, saw, nun, and haunting in Venice all had good holds a result. Hopefully saw can hit 50 now

Damn! So close! Still a great weekend number but October will have to wait another year for its first $100M opener.

Interesting demos. 60% white is higher than I'd expect. I guess that's where its limit came from. Only 3% black! Even Trump got more than that.

Re: TSwift weekend thread
It's OK, Joker 2 will almost certainly top $100M just have to wait 11.5 months.
$92.8M is superb for a concert movie though our expectations went over the top.
Swift has just had a very big year and even her last week with visits to the Era premiere with Beyonce (Wednesday), visit to the NFL (Thursday) and then SNL (Saturday) show how much we follow the Swift hype cycle.
I do wonder with the movie collectables AMC was selling and the merch they were selling from Swift, just how much did people spend when they went to the movie theater? The $93M only reflects core box office.

Re: TSwift weekend thread
Yeah, I think they made tons of money from merchandise as swifties probably bought every item. Even I bought a cup lol
