Re: Barbenheimer weekend 2 thread (...and Haunted Mansion)
Haunted Mansion probably can’t get to 100m with this opening, but 80-90m will still help my draft.

Haunted Mansion 2023 - $24.2m Haunted Mansion 2003 - $24.2m 3-day
... lol
Maybe if they make another one in like 30 years they'll release it in October?

Well, at least it didn't drop from the last one's OW? (...)

Re: Barbenheimer weekend 2 thread (...and Haunted Mansion)
Barbie's $774m WW total now would've been a good final total... that it has all of August and more to go... wow

Re: Barbenheimer weekend 2 thread (...and Haunted Mansion)
Surprised they managed to botch The Haunted Mansion movie twice. Pirates aside, even Jungle Cruise is way better than either Haunted Mansion. Seems like a pretty easy premise to turn into a decent movie.
If they ever try again, I’d like to see a less comedic version that is a period piece.

Re: Barbenheimer weekend 2 thread (...and Haunted Mansion)
... so Disney has no releases till Marvels...? Lol ok I don't think that's gonna move.
Haunted Mansion should've released late September and maybe Indy in an empty of October could've done like $500m WW. Oh well.

Maybe if they make another one in like 30 years they'll release it in October? True, but the first adjusts to 55 million 5 day and had to contend with Elf, The Cat in the Hat, Cheaper By the Dozen, and ROTK. 183 million off a 90 million budget wasn't terrible, and I think it did over 130 million in video/dvd sales.

Re: Barbenheimer weekend 2 thread (...and Haunted Mansion)
Oppenheimer will probably be the 4th highest grossing film of the summer. It’s hold was not MOG enough to threaten Spider-Verse and Guardians.

Re: Barbenheimer weekend 2 thread (...and Haunted Mansion)
if you take out thursday previews, Oppenheimer hold looks even better and it has all the imax screens next week as well. I am expecting another crazy drop next week(comparable to drop minus previews this weekend). All the big imax shows are near sell out for next 2 weekends already. Plus its going to have good weekdays due to the Imax shows.
We cannot predict its final number until October. Its likely to get back Imax after GT completes 2 weeks of run. So I expect strong late run in Sep/Oct fueled mostly by Imax.
While its unlikely to hit 360m, Dont rule it out at this point. Top Gun Maverick did 44.65m in its 4th weekend and was at 466.82m. It did another 252m and faced big openers like Minions 2/Thor 4 after its 4th weekend. I dont think there are any big openers left(though I am thinking Turtles 2 could be mini breakout).

Are you expecting much softer drops from here on out? If we assume 40% declines it's essentially gone by mid September and we'd be hoping those weekday grosses are very high to reach $360M 30-Jul $46.00 6-Aug $27.60 13-Aug $16.56 20-Aug $9.94 27-Aug $5.96 3-Sep $3.58 10-Sep $2.15 30% drops (tracks to $328M domestic) 30-Jul $46.00 6-Aug $32.20 13-Aug $22.54 20-Aug $15.78 27-Aug $11.04 3-Sep $7.73 10-Sep $5.41 17-Sep $3.79 24-Sep $2.65 Also, RIP Little Mermaid. I very much wanted it to reach $300M.

Spiderman: Across the Spider-Verse - $382M I see Barbie above Mario and I guess it will even hit 600m. Good weekdays and superb drops during August will carry this one (and compared to Mario it doesnt have to face any blockbusters in its 5th weekend like GotG3).

1 billion would be hilarious for Oppenheimer. I don't see it but at least matching most post pandemic MCU films is lol

Surely there is a better term than Oppie? Sounds like Ron Howard’s triumphant return to acting in an Andy Griffith spinoff.
Are we that lazy to spell out Oppenheimer? How about DaBomb? Kind of meta considering how great it’s doing!

How bout oprah? It’s sizzle with a little girl power! And it’s a throwback.
Dam how big would an Oprah film be with her endorsement? Her husband alone was one of the most fascinating people I ever interviewed.
