Very good for Violent Night. Might even have decent legs since it should be pretty crowd pleasing.

That's very good and could have a leggy run.

Also, I Heard the Bells made $767,012 from 474 theaters as well yesterday!

The producer of a production of the Music Man I was in recently had her daughter as one of the kids in the film.

The studio, Sight and Sound, is in Lancaster about 45 minutes from me. Never been, I should check it out

Violent Night hopefully can hit 60m total with this.

The sequel should be called Bullet Holey Night lol

Great to see Violent Night doing well.

The Menu also had a really good drop.

Random trivia, this is the first time since 1991 that the post Thanksgiving weekend opener (Violent Night) made more than the top Thanksgiving opener (Strange World). Looks like Glass Onion missed that.

In 1991, Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country made $18,162,837 the weekend after Thanksgiving. During Thanksgiving, the top opener was My Girl with $12,391,783.

The Last Samarai (2003) almost did it but missed beating The Haunted Mansion.

Interesting stats.

There was a time (early 00s) the post-Thanksgiving weekend was producing decent openers:

2001 - Behind Enemy Lines
2003 - The Last Samurai, Honey

But then it all went pear shaped (more due to the movies released).

Golden Compass bombing in early December scared everyone else away from the dates.

The Menu is sensational on many levels. It pulled a crazy stat as well and WOM is getting out about it which bodes well long term.

The Menu's hold this weekend is the best any holdover has seen in the top 5 following Thanksgiving since 2011 with Hugo's -33.5% drop. However, I asterisk that one since it added 563 theaters that weekend so don't think that should count, which essentially grew its theater count 44%.

Before that it was 1995's Toy Story which dropped -30.8% following Thanksgiving.

If it can hold on to theaters it has a serious chance of a sizable bump up once holiday dailies kick in.

I would love to see studios start to release decent movies the weekend after Thanksgiving again since plenty of movies have shown that when given the chance they can do well in this spot. But it will probably go the way of Labor Day weekend where Shang-Chi did awesome and then this year we were back to releasing basically nothing on that weekend.

Yes we need more of that.

I believe Equaliser 3 comes out Labor Day weekend next year which is an improvement on most years (bar 2021)

I think the reason studios have gotten more and more scared of releasing anything of note on the post-Thanksgiving weekend is that you not only miss the Thanksgiving holiday, if your movie doesn't open high enough it runs the risk of getting pushed out of all of the multiplexes before Christmas Day for all of the holiday weekend openers. Violent Night was a safe bet for this weekend since it has a very finite theatrical window, but it looks like Universal might have actually left money on the table by not releasing it in November. Ah well. With how few options there are out there it might get to hold really well over the next few weeks before falling off after the 25th.

It even went up 150k (1.1%). Where do you think it finishes? Will Christmas come too late to really affect its total much?

Christmas won't come until the sunday of its fourth weekend, so it won't get an amazing boost I don't think

People still like consuming Christmas-y stuff in the weeks before so I could see it start benefitting even this upcoming weekend given how empty the marketplace is. I could see VN get to $50M at least as a 4.0 multiplier for the only Christmas themed movie is doable.

I think it's still going to be showing during Christmas break. I could see 60+.

Menu pulled in $363,149 (-26.1%). It's PTA is down just 15.1% from last week. If it can hold on to theaters it's going to do quite well over the next month!

Violent Night pulled in $1,022,560. Probably will already be at a 2X multiplier by the end of the weekend.

The Fabelmans pulled in $130,235 and is down just 25.6%. It's only at $5.7M now but seems it's starting to stabilize so perhaps it can recover over the holidays and if it pulls in some big awards.
