zwackerm wrote: Also, the Scream ripoff looking A24 horror film Bodies Bodies Bodies comes out next week as well It's limited. Wide the following week. Just because it's a slasher doesn't mean it's a Scream rip-off. Honestly looks like Spring Breakers meets Black Christmas (2019). The latter was awful though which I'm not expecting this to be. I did think the first trailer was terrible and annoying but the new one was great.

Hopefully Bullet Train and Beast overperform to keep the box office rolling.

Re: August 5-7 Predictions
Bullet Train is having special Dolby screenings tomorrow evening, and the ones in my area are already 60-80% full? Looks pretty similar to the Elvis Tuesday screenings, which seems promising. Would be nice to have one last $30M opener for the summer.

Re: August 5-7 Predictions
Prey has excellent reviews. Probably could've out grossed the 2018 film. Too bad its straight to Hulu

Re: August 5-7 Predictions
If Prey had opened in theaters this weekend I think it'd make at least $25M.

Glad to find that out now because it's being marketed as a slasher. I might have been disappointed if I had those expectations.

Re: August 5-7 Predictions
Knowing its more of a murder mystery and not a slasher makes me much more interested. Hoping for something Knives Out esque

Re: August 5-7 Predictions
Yeah I'd rather it be a mystery than a slasher too

I am totally fine with it being a murder mystery but I'm just glad I know that before going because I thought it would be more of a straight-forward slasher.

Bullet Train Preview- 4.6m
If it followed the trajectory of Nope it would open with 32m. I'm thinking it can do a bit better and hit 35m OW

Re: August 5-7 Predictions
Weekend #'s stink mostly so just putting the numbers I care about here.
Top Gun: Maverick $1,940,000 +106.2% +0.8% 3,181 $609 $668,611,545 78
12th weekend and a chance to go back to #2 for the weekend? With only Beast may stay at #2 next weekend as well. Pretty crazy that by Sunday it will be $87M away from Avatar and $27M away from BP.
2 more weeks of summer, Labor Day, and possible Veterans Day and Oscar run. Feel like they'll give Cruise a huge Oscar push here and could treat it as a lifetime achievement type thing.
