The footage at comic con got a great reception. Kang the Conqueror, MODOK, Bill Murray etc as added value elements, and I think this Ant-Man film could be the first to do 300m domestic if it gets decent reviews

A lot is going into this one as the start of the next phase. Kang's introduction, the big baddie that'll be present until the next Avenger films (at least), in particular. Will be interesting to see what they do with MODOK in his design.

If any Ant-Man film is going for $300m, then it should be here.

I can't see Kang having the authority and presence of a multi-movie villain as Thanos. Even the name sounds lame. He looks like a solo Black Panther film villain and sounds like a solo Shang-Chi film villain.

Quantumania will increase to $260 million.

Kang is a lower key and different type of villain to Thanos. He certainly lacks the physical menace of Thanos and is really there due to the whole multiverse theme. I wasn't impressed with what I saw in the final episode of Loki btw.

However, this film will be the litmus test and should expand on the previous two Ant films and witness a large jump (ala Thor Ragnarok)

rhis one has the same director unlike Ragnarok which switched out directors

not sure how much this will increase. Ant Man 2 was a really average film and I don't think excitement for a third film is that high

Trailer is there. https://twitter.com/getFANDOM/status/15 ... 2745455616

its is intriguing except the annoying facts in these movies about how casually characters do something like "fun" but have catastrophic consequences. Its similar to MOM where Strange/Spidey were joking around while doing something which had very bad impact and Wong would warn them as well.

I'm sure the film is comedic but it certainly looks more serious and better than the previous Ant-Man films. Plus, seems like Kang is in it a good deal after rumors he takes a back seat. No Modok in the trailer ugh.

I could see 100m opening+ off momentum from Wakanda Forever but more likely 80-90m range. Should be the first film to gross between 200m and 300m domestic since Venom Let there Be Carnage

Kang is the big sell here. The trailer was OK but I suspect future trailers will feature more Kang

Aren't these big superhero movies getting boring? I'm tired of them. They're doing too much, too fast. Nothing stands out and makes it special either. And Kang is such a meh villain. To go from Thanos to Kang is laughable. Majors just doesn't embody a "big bad" for me, and he's also in Creed III which looks to be the worst one yet. There's not even any mask or helmet or supervillainy stuff, it's just Jonathon Majors wearing some clothes.

This is what he's meant to look like:

Spoiler: show

Decent poster concept, though, but then it's ruined with Majors' face behind it.

I think the MCU peaked with the Infinity Saga. These new phases just don't excite as much because to me the multiverse is kind of a cop out which reduces the impact of major events (e.g. superhero deaths as they can be undone or replaced). Add to that oversaturation, a lean towards OTT humor and the must see aspect will eventually fizzle out.

Sure there will always be peaks (i.e. Spiderman NWH, the first real X-Men appearence etc) but it does seem like the MCU is embarking on a downward trend.

I am excited to see the Quantum realm in more detail, though I do think it looks a little too much like space in the Guardians of the Galaxy films.

In the first hour of John Campea's youtube show today (third or fourth main topic of January 9, 2023), Rob Meyer Burnett said (as a joke) that Fantastic Four would show up in Ant-Man 3. Then John Campea said somebody sent him two images from the completed film. He said his jaw dropped to the floor. I'm thinking those two frames showed a surprise cameo from a well known Marvel character in Ant-Man 3. Maybe this will boost the box office like Henry Cavill's appearance in Black Adam.

Movie looks good enough for a bump from 2 to maybe the 95/250 level of something like the Winter Soldier but not enough to get Ant-Man into the stratosphere of Thor, Captain America, Iron Man, Guardians etc.

I'm very excited for it though. Can't wait for the comics accurate Kang and Modok!

Saw some mocking Modok from a leaked (?) image.

But... he's one of the most "outrageously" designed characters, and based on the leaked image, looks as good as he could really get in a live-action setting. Not sure what they were expecting and/or wanting. Feel it might just be people wanting to complain over anything and everything, and they've just singled him out as their early Ant-Man complaint since it's easy.

In the glimpse I caught of him in the trailer, MODOK gave me Kraang vibes.

Very similar character from what I can tell.

15 years ago I couldn't have predicted how cosmic and out there these superhero movies have become. It's a testament to the MCU brand and Feige guiding the ship. We cheer on talking raccoon and trees, the Doctor Strange movies, quantum realms, and now MODOK, the weirdest character of all.
