Re: November 18-20 Predictions
Wed #'s: BP2 $8.1M -36% $213.2M
The Wed # is much lower than I was expecting. I have a rough estimate of BP2 at $375M or so by the end of Thanksgiving weekend so sadly think it may run out of steam just under $500M unless it has a sizable Thanksgiving hold / holiday bump.

Re: November 18-20 Predictions
Maybe they're giving the showtimes to something else they think will do better? it was weird, i went into the regal app and the showtimes for tonight had disappeared and it said "opens 11/18" instead of 11/17 in the evening like it had said before.
They also reduced the showtimes for the Menu. I was going to see it tonight but now theres none i can make

Re: November 18-20 Predictions
I was going to post before seeing that number but sensing major breakout for The Menu. Could do really well into Thanksgiving. Very intrigued to see if it manages to go up next weekend.

That would indicate a double digit opening

Re: November 18-20 Predictions
So I hadn't even heard of it but The Chosen apparently is having a big opening according to Deadline. Quote: No. 2 is The Chosen: Season 3, of which Fathom Events is showing off episodes 1 & 2 at 2,012 theaters. It’s looking at $3.7M today and $10M $10M for two episodes of Season 3? That's a big opening.

Re: November 18-20 Predictions
Have Wakanda at about $365M by the end of Thanksgiving. It will definitely make top 3 of the year past Dr. Strange but $450M isn't certain and likely will finish up just under there. Right now I'm going with $430M but a lot depends on if it has any type of benefit from the Dec. holidays and if it does hold better next weekend.

Re: November 18-20 Predictions
Black Panther fell hard. I guess that's to be expected of any MCU movie these days, it will be on Disney+ at around Christmas time after all, but I figured that if any movie would buck the trend it'd be this one . The Menu did great! Happy to see it. Its only a pseudo-oscar contender, but those (and the real contenders) have been flopping all over the place since the season began. Lol at She Said. I thought people would care about that story but I guess not.

Everything fell bad, seems like with the blizzard, and schools coming back, everyone is waiting for the holiday.

Still think the franchise was capable of much more but also just didn't capture the zeitgeist as The Dark Knight or Fast 6 did after Walker. Chadwick not being in the film couldn't overcome the lack of gravitas of most of the other actors (aside from Bassett). Hollywood not releasing anything noteworthy for nearly 3 months in terms of events also seems to dramatically have cooled box office momentum we had going earlier in the year.

Yes had Chadwick filmed a few scenes or half/most of the film it would have been a different animal. It can still get to $500m which would be impressive. Especially considering coming off such a big first film. Batman Begins and Fast were 200-250m grossers so improving was a given. Also of note : the only sequel to a 600m+ predecessor to outgross its was Endgame. Obviously Avatar 2 will try and be the next. Perhaps it was always a bridge too far for Wakanda.

Re: November 18-20 Predictions
Atleast Wakanda avoided the high 60s drops of Multiverse and L&T. Should make around $450M total, but it needed $500M+ in the US to hit one billion worldwide, so its still a bit disappointing. Hopefully the holiday legs will be strong ... and Disney will wait till January before putting it on streaming.
