Trailer for this is out. Star studded cast and one of 2 oscar projects for Margot Robbie this year.

Probably will at least do numbers on par with Joy and if it gets great reviews, 100m could be on the table.

It's certainly a great cast and, yet again, Bale looks to put it in highly distinguished performance. It has a certain Wes Anderson flavour to it, but obviously way more commercial. I'm not sure the logline lands all too well, so hopefully future trailers are better, with more memorable lines chosen. But with the recent successes of Top Gun: Maverick, Elvis, and The Black Phone, this awards season feels well primed for some box office hits. Hopefully this can be one of them.

it looks great but don't see it doing numbers at the box office. probably be a bigger hit streaming

Seems odd this wouldn't have screened yet. Hopefully doesn't mean it sucks

It looks like the reviews will be bad, probably half from quality and half from David O. Russell being toxic in the cancel era.

So when does this actually get released? Here it looks like it will be out in a couple of weeks.

So is North America getting it wide in October or in November still?

October.

I’m guessing it’s not a major awards contender or it would’ve been shown at a festival

It is worrying, and I wasn't concerned a few days ago before zwackerm brought it up. I'm still hoping it's an awards contender.

It comes out on 7th October, btw. And despite what Mojo says, I believe it's going wide straight away.

Ok that makes sense. I guess it's not looking so good at the moment unless its an all-out crowd pleaser.

Reviews seem to be on the I heart huckabees line of polarizing (I loved that film though)

TBH I keep confusing this with Babylon. Good on Robbie for connecting with these directors but they feel like interchangable period pieces.

Yes, and I suspect that might factor in to one of the films' demise.

Margot Robbie is like the female Jude Law. Extremely attractive, always reliably good without ever being extraordinary, is in everything and yet has never seemed to carry a hit on her own.

I think the production and costume design on this look mediocre and too similar to other period dramas. But definitely interested based off the cast and director. Even Joy was fun

Feel like Barbie next year is where we'll see her box office pull. Could be a career defining role if it delivers.

Social media reactions are quite meh. Looks like a stinker. Might gross sub 50m domestic if the case

Won't do half of Joy. Might only do 1/3

Just read that Amsterdam had IMAX and PLF screens last weekend too contributing for a third of its OW. So it probably would have done maybe $5.5M or somewhere around there with just regular screens? Just makes it's OW look even worse.

Well the first screenings of Babylon have started. Very, very mixed.

Either its going to be a massive success or an utter disaster. Studio is pushing hard to make it a watercooler film on social but will a 188 minute movie opening over Christmas resonate with today's moviegoers?

Being period doesn't bode well for it. Not sure Pitt can turn this one around. But I'm sure it won't bomb like Amsterdam. Rather it will do a respectable $30-40 million. I don't see any chance it blows up like another La La Land.

I'm going with bomb. Unfortunate for Chazelle.
