Besides Lightyear (oof) great #s all around. Elvis dropped same as Bohemian Rhapsody! Will be interesting to see where its total ends up. Black Phone dropping below 50% also great. Top Gun at $1.1 billion... truly crazy. |

Minions OW is the most impressive OW of the year. To be able to overcome the mixed WOM of Minions and DM3 to have the biggest animated OW since Frozen 2 is incredible considering it seemed the franchise was on the decline. Even Top Gun had its projections trending up by OD. I don’t think anyone was expecting it to nearly double the low end of expectations. Also Lightyear is the winner of worst performance of the year. It makes Fantastic Beasts not look that bad. |

Feel bad for movie theaters. Seen a lot of social media videos of people being obnoxious at Minions screenings must be a nightmare |

I couldn't find the origin of the TikTok trend of groups going to the Minions showings and causing a scene. I thought it was started by the actual social media team for Minions, but I don't know why they'd potentially sabotage their own film? Unless it was, and people just took it way too far. Saw theaters putting up signs saying they're refusing admission for anyone wearing suits due to this now. Trying to refund dozens/hundreds of tickets at these showings that get ruined would be a massive headache. |

Hoping Elvis can now get itself closer to $150m than $100m (which it will now clear with ease). Maverick - brilliant as always. Minions is kind of mind blowing - even though was expecting over $80m OW. It's going to smash that. |
